Depends on what you are feeding and what quality you want. For CB hay in SC we pay 35 - 45 dollars for a good quality round bale (900 to 1200lbs) for horses that has been kept out of the weather (in a shed) whereas for cow hay (left out in the rain to get dried out and all the nutrients gone) is any where from 5 to 20 dollars. Square bales depends if you pick it up out of the Field or get it from the barn. If you pick it up 2.50 to 3.25 and if you get it from the barn 3.75 to 4.50. I don't know if your state has a market bulletin but you can search for it on the webb. You will find and can compare prices in your area. depends on the quality, how well the hay grew that year, how big it is, what kind of hay, and how fresh it is. if it is for horses, it generally has to be higher quality, less dust, and stay away from alfalfa because it grows where "blister bugs" are prevalant, and ingesting a blister bug leg can kill the horse. Horse hay is generally more expensive.

Well since we've been in a drought, prices have gone up. We pay about 4.25 for horse quality square bale. Our haymen is one of the best in this area though. It really depends on how much rain you have got and such.

It depends where you get it at, at any old horse farm it's from 5 to 8 bucks. Depends on what the farmer thinks.
