It is true to a point. You can only for a few days a month and the closer you get to the actual day, when the egg is released, have sex and your chances of getting a boy are better. The boy sperm swim faster than the girl sperm, but die sooner. If you want a girl, have sex a couple of days before ovulation. The girl sperm, like I said but in reverse, swim slower but live longer. What ever you do, have sex on your back with a pillow under your hips and lay in that position for 30-1 hour before getting up to go to the bathroom. Try going to www.ivillage.com and doing research on the idea.

In order to do that, you need to know your body damn well! Here it goes, The cromosome X (female) lasts longer than the cromosome Y (male), therefor if you wanted to aim for a boy, it is best to have sex the day your egg is released, if you want a girl, have sex 2 or 3 days before the egg is released, that way you wait for the cromosome Y to vanish while the X will be predominant, and if you have sex the day your egg is released then you get much higher chances to concieve a boy.
Now a female egg carries the cromosomes XX which will unite with either an X or a Y from the sperm because the sperm comes in this form XY. Just a little background for those who don't even know about cromosomes. Good luck.

the sex of a baby is determined by which sperm fertilizes the egg, and whether that sperm cell has an X or Y chromosome. it has nothing to do with the woman, only the man's sperm cells.
to answer the first part of question, there are only about 3 days of the month when you can get pregnant, and those days are about halfway between your periods. like, if you start your period on the 1st of the month, you are able to get pregnant around the 15th. a couple days before, a couple days after. do a search on ovulation for more info.
and, good luck! *hugs*

It's difficult to say exactly how long it will take any one individual or couple to get pregnant. Factors such as your age, general and reproductive health, and when you have intercourse all impact your chances of conceiving a child
However, these general statistics may give you an idea of how long it will take. Normally fertile couples have a 25 percent chance of getting pregnant each cycle, and a cumulative pregnancy rate of 75 to 85 percent over the course of one year. Still, some healthy couples can take even longer to get pregnant
And you can try to increase your likelihood of getting pregnant sooner by learning to pinpoint exactly when you ovulate, and by familiarizing yourself with the cyclic hormonal and physical changes that take place in your body each month.
I have included some links for you so you can do some reading and research on your body. OVULATION IS THE KEY TO GETTING PREGNANT! Remember that. These are the steps you need to take...
1.) Make an appt. with an OBGYN. He or She needs to give you a complete exam and make sure you are having regular periods, that your tubes are unblocked, and that you donot have anything else that may cause you to not get Pregnant ie...sexually transmitted diseases, PCOS, ect...
2.) You need to make sure that you are ovulating. Belive it or not, some women, do not ovulate. And as I said, Ovulation is the KEY to getting pregnant. To do this, you should buy a Basal Themometor (you can buy at almost any store where they sell regular themometors.) and start taking your temps EVERY MORNING BEFORE you get out of bed. to read more about this, check out this website for what they have to say about it.. http://www.mamasark.com/bbt.htm............
3.) you also need to learn to check your Cervix Position AND your Cervial Mucus everyday. To learn more about this check out these websites... http://www.webwomb.com/check_cervical_po...
and
http://www.webwomb.com/cervical_mucus_pa...
4.) Once you have got this all down you need a place to chart them all so that you can keep track of what your body is doing and when you ovulate. www.fertilityfriend.com is the best place to do this. It is a free site and it allows you to chart your temperature, your cervial mucus and position and helps detrmine when you ovulate.
*********OF COURSE YOU CAN ALWAYS JUST DO IT THE OLD FASHIONED WAY AND HAVE ALOT OF SEX AND HOPE FOR THE BEST! LOL But for your best chances, these are the steps you need to take!!*************
~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~PLEASE REMEMBER!!!! Even a 100% healthy couple only has a 40% chance of conciving each month, so dont get discouraged if it doesnt happen right away, even if you do all the things above. Just have fun with it, and do not make sex a chore or a job, just relax and enjoy eachother, and when the time is right, you will get Pregnant!
Good luck to you and TONS OF BABY DUST YOUR WAY!!!!! *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~...

as far as having sex on a certain day to see if you are having a boy or girl - I don't think so. There are chinese pregnancy calendars everywhere on the internet that will say if you have sex in a certain month it will be a boy vs. girl - just google chinese pregnancy calendar and you will find tons of them. But that is just for "entertainment purposes"
As far as just getting pregnant, try this website
http://www.ovulation-calculator.com/
It will help you chart and figure out when you are most fertile and ovulating so that you can boost your chances of getting pregnant. Good luck!

You can find ovulation calendars online that show which days would produce a girl and which a boy. I searched for Ovulation Calendar and found many free ones to try. I would check that way, but it is really up to chance, so don't stress about picking the sex and don't waste money on any of the methods they advertise on the internet. Good luck

Nope. That's not true at all. It's called an old wives tale. I do know that if you want to get pregnant you should try the two weeks right before you have your period. What also works is love. When the timing is right and love is in the air you'll be blessed.

The sex of the baby depends on who takes control of the situation. If you do it will be a boy and if he does it will be a girl.
Good luck

no, not true. the male sperm controls the babies sex.
you're more likely to get pregnant when you're ovulating. that's usually 2 wks before or after ur period.
