i used one of those when i was pregnant. they dont always work because it is like a microphone and the ones that the doctors use go off of something else, i cant think of the word right now. for you to hear your baby's heart beat the baby has to be positioned just right. maybe try listening at different times during the day. or try laying in different positions to make your baby move. and try moving it all over your stomach. i heard my baby's heart beat a few times but not very often. good luck. oh and by the way, its not broken, it says right in the instructions that not everyone will hear the baby's heartbeat.

You should already be able to hear it. I'm almost possitive that you only have to be about 4 months along to hear it. Some hear it sooner, it just depends. Please don't take this offensively, but the doctors equipment is much more advanced than what you buy in a store. You might have bought a piece of faulty equipment, or you may not be doing it right. Sorry if that sounds offensive. Good luck with your new baby and God Bless the both of you!!

I had bought one of those listeners with my first child and they are a really big pain in the butt. You pretty much have to push the piece into your stomach so its right up against the baby to hear the heart beat and half the time I couldn't find it. Try laying on the piece on your side. Your definitely far along enough to hear it its just a matter of positioning it right.

i also bought one of those when i was pregnant. it's hard to distinguish the sounds you hear through the moniter but it does come with a booklet that will tell you how. the way i did it was to move it around in the area that the baby seemed to be in the most. then usually after about 5-10 minutes i could pick up the heartbeat!

No you should be hearing it by now. Just be patient when you are looking for it...mine was down low to one side or the other most of the time. It doesn't really sound like a beating heart either its a wierd sound that might catch you off gaurd. Keep trying it might take you 10 or 15 minutes to find it, if you don't I would take it with you to your next dr apt and ask her to help find it.

It can be tricky to hear the heartbeat. With my first one, the doctor didn't hear the heartbeat until I was 33 weeks along. You have to find exactly the right spot; and if the baby is turned wrong, you can't hear it at all.

At this time you should be able to hear your baby heartbeat. I heard her heartbeat at 3 months. Maybe the heartbeat listener doe not work.

I had one of those too and it NEVER worked for me!!! I dont think they are as sensitive as the ones that the doctors have and that is why they can find it so well! I would return it and save your money!! I could NEVER pick up my sons heartbeat all the way up until the end with one of those!

You might not be checking the right spot on your belly. try all over till you hear a thumping sound. Take the devise with you to your next md visit and ask him to show you.... or.... it's broken and you have to take it back and get a new one. At that stage you should be able to hear the sounds very clearly.
