The Pirate Party of the USA, sounds interesting… a new horizon awaits the digital age, or do you think it will be a short term cause? What do you think about the cause of this party?

"djgriffinny" DID you READ the links ??? They do not support illigal activity, they are trying to make it legal, there is a difference (as in just b/c you support it doesn't mean you do it right now).

That's the greatest thing I've seen all day! Thank you. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a short term clause, but it's good to see somebody trying to work within the system. It' won't work in the long run, but bringing public awareness around is a good step (if a small one) towards political change. Plus, it's pirates! How cool is that?! Avast! Arrgghh!

I think from a utopian standpoint, it's a great idea. Unfortunately, money is what drives the pharm biz. There would be no money for research into new drugs if there were no patents. Why would anyone spend billions of dollars researching a product they wouldn't have exclusivity to? I think it SUCKS and I think there needs to be reforms made, but removing the patent system would be disastrous.
Not to mention the fact that the patent system can drive creativity. I have an idea for a garden product right now - at some point I hope to develop it. Why would I bother if I wouldn't have the right to market it myself? What would be my drive to spend a good portion of my life working, drawing models, making revisions, etc...if I couldn't reap the benefits?
Sorry, they're ideally a cool org, but it just won't work.

Do they issue free eye patches. You probably mean a new party advocating free and unencumbered pirating of music and videos. Any political movement however short lived is worthwhile to increase awareness and cause discussion. Some great ideas have come from such movements.

The Pirate Party. Hm. Where've you been all this time? What do you think we're saddled with at the present?

It is supporting something illegal. It is a dumb idea.
Why do people think pirating in ok. A lot of people put time and effort into a product and people think it is ok, to steal it.
Do you want to work for free.
