I would base this decision on how your b/f treats you and how you both interact with each other. If you truly care for this person and not do it to piss your family off then continue to get to know the person and build on a good thing. If the relationship continues and they see how he treats you and you are happy- they will come around. Just be true to yourself and live your life your way.

Listen to gram she has lived enough life to know what she is talkin about...As for your family they will either learn to except the decition you have made or they will just push you away by their close mindedness.Love is color blind and I have been there my gramps is a pastor who believed that races where not ment to be mixed but after 3 yrs with my now ex I finally sat down and told him about the man I was in love with he was upset at first but realized if that is what my hearted wanted then he was going to be there in my life...Make them realize that one day he could end up your husband which means he could be the father of your children and there grandchildren and are they really willing to take the chance in missing out on your life and your possible childrens lives over something as igsagnificante as color...Good Luck and I hope your family see that your happy and in love

My sister-in-law is married to a black man. When she first started dating him her father disowned her and would not speak to her so she came to live with my husband and me for a year after graduating college. They got married and the day of the wedding her father finally came around enough to at least go to the wedding. Now her husband and father are close friends and her father realizes what a wonderful man her husband is there is no one else who could treat his daughter as good. It was really tough going for the whole family for a while, but in the end love won out and it was worth it!!

my boyfriend is black too but i'm lucky, my family loves him. your gram is right though. if you love him that's all that should matter. if you're an interracial couple you have to both be strong people because there are people out there who don't support it. just do what feels right to you.
