If I were to write a novel on my political views and a plan that I have to start a new country somewhere away from the United States and got it copyrighted would it be considered an illegal book? Would it be considered treason because I want to leave? It is not like it is a plan to take over this country it is just to start a new one. Any input would be helpful. Thanks for answering

With freedom of speech you have the right to write any book and not be charged with treason. The book should not insite hate in others but you can express your thoughts on the subject or outline a plan for your own. You are free to leave your country if you wish. It might be possible to found an island nation for instance in remote areas where you could buy an island say in south america.

You could copy right it. Many things get copy righted. It would not be considered treason to want to leave the country to start your own. If you plan on doing harm to the country, ie over through gov't etc that would be treason. Not that easy to start a country though but lots of luck.

There would be nothing illegal about such a book. If your book expresses no intention to cause harm to the US or its citizens, then there would be no issue whatsoever.

For inexpensive copyrighting, simply put your manuscript in an envelope and mail it to yourself. Do not open it. The postage mark can act as a copyright for you (also make sure to put the copyright symbol, ownership information, and year on the manuscript.)
