I'm assuming this is a cultural thing because being an American, I can't imagine such a situation. I believe in helping out family members when there is real need but other wise I have my own family to take care of and I can't be taking care of theirs for them when they are doing just fine.

If your wife also feels that she has to help them, YOU need to start stashing away some cash. Start putting more into your 401k or other retirement. Put money into one of your local credit unions that have like a 10 month CD, they are paying a little more than 5% on the 10 month where I live. 5 % isn't much, but it's a he ll of a lot more than giving your money away never to be seen again. With the 401 k option, you can show your wife that your take home pay isn't as much as it was before, also now is a good time to put extra into 401 k since the market is down now, which means greater buying power.

U didnt say how your wife feels about this. Have you ever helped them before? Did they pay money back? Lending money to family is always a bad idea if u ask me! If you do decide to do it- type up an agreement on what they borrowed and WHEN you need the money paid back ! That way you have her signature on the paper and if they dont pay you back you can take them to small claims court. I do think its kinda selfish and inconsiderate of them to even ask you for financial help! Kids go to their parents not parents to their kids!!!! Good luck to u

If they are surviving, let em be. Its not your fault that you have a better job and make more money. They have a lot of balls even asking for help in my opinion. I would just keep away from talking about money and not offer it up.

Depends on whether they are going to pay you back. If they are and will not hurt your family yes if not no.

I have learned not to give money to family... perosnal i would stop giving them money... they should be able to work out their financial situations themselves.
