I have a 13 year old boy who has outgrown a lot of family-type activities. He's a black belt in karate and is into ghosts and supernatural stuff. He likes science and history.

If you stop in Columbus, check out COSI and maybe Gallery Hop in the Short North. Cleveland area, the Rock Hall, which is right next to the science museum, and then Geauga Lake and Cedar Point. Also, Indians or Browns games in Cleveland, Blue Jackets, Buckeyes, or Crew in Columbus. Yellow Springs is a fun little liberal town, too, with great hiking and no major chain stores. They have a skate park a few blocks from comic book stores and a great dairy barn.

Come to Cleveland, there is so much to offer:

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Great Lakes Science Center
Natural History Museum
Botanical Gardens
Cleveland MetroParks Zoo
U.S.S Cod Museum
William G. Mather Museum
Western Reserve Historial Society
Cleveland Museum of Art (I think they might be closed though for renovations)

Oh great thing for you to do is go on a ghost trip around the state, grab a book about haunted places in Ohio. You might also want to see about going down to Old Man's Cave in southern Ohio, where the indian mounds are, great history and science there. My hometown, Bellefontaine, Ohio has 2 castles and Ohio and Zane's Caverns (underground) which are REALLY interesting!! Good luck!!

Maybe do a little pre-college shopping around? It's beautiful out by Miami University in Oxford, and you could visit the river between Cinci and Newport, KY. Check out the scene near OSU's campus-- there's lots of fun around Lane Ave. If you're near Cleveland, do University Circle with the natural history museum near Case Western Reserve.
