In some cases yes they do matter, but in the long run looks arent always what matter. If there is a beautiful girl and she is bitchy to everyone around her no one is going to want to be around her or date her. If there is a girl who isnt so beautiful but has a good heart and is sweet to everyone then people are going to recognize her as a nice person and people will want to be around her more. u get what im saying? hope that helped!

The simple, biological truth is yes, looks do matter. The difference between being shallow and being genuinely interested in other people is that looks are not the only thing that matter and you are willing to disregard first impressions based of physical appearance.
As for people who "aren't beautiful" I guess you've never heard of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"! Pretty much everyone is attractive in some way to someone else. Good looks are a matter of opinion: what is attractive to me may not be attractive to you or anyone else.

Its a fact unfortunately, that society does think that way, just like they think all blonde's are dumb, and people that have red hair are all hot tempered.Stereotypes at work, I have met people who were not considered good looking by the medias yard stick of "beauty"but after getting to know them personally, they became so very beautiful in my souls eyes ...and that's the only eyes I want to ever see with .

The key to being an attractive person is to utilize what you have. My ears stick out and are frankly a little pointy but with age I've gotten far less self concious about them and find that most of the time people don't even notice, or they say they find them cute and endearing and that they add to my charm. The key is confidence, but not *********. And first and foremost, you must find yourself attractive.

Of course they matter. I feel bad for people who are not so attractive. Life is rough enough as it is...it would be a shame to be ugly. I know that I sound vain and pretty mean, but it is a fact that looks are very important, especially in this world that we live in. It's a shame because there are more important things than how we look, but that is just the way that it is. I do believe, however, that personality affects the way that a person looks...you know what I mean? Like a person can be not so attractive, but they shine because their personality makes them so much more attractive. Sorry for babbling.

People say "looks don't matter to me" but they matter to everyone in one way or another you couldn't physically have sex with someone you found repulsive or connect with them emotionally. When you mature you realise that looks aren't the be all and end all but they still count however slightly.
It's the way of the world that beautiful people find life easier and things happen to them easier.
Sad but it's the way of the world

Unfortunately, yes. As for dating, you're lucky if you find somebody who likes you for who you are, not for how you look. A real relationship should revolve around the feelings two people feel towards each other. Looks are just the icing on the cake.

Looks only matter to superficial people. People can be beautiful on the inside

Looks do matter, but not as much as the natural phermones that attract people to each other. However base it may sound, if someone is attracted to your (for lack of better word) smell, they will overlook quite a bit.
