Because on the bottom there's a religious argument: Is the fetus alive? has a soul?
Since this is a matter of opinion, the general answer depends on the political "weather" of the day. Greeks did infanticide as a common way of rooting out the ones they didn't want. Chinese and Hindi still do it at the present date.
So it depends heavily on which social moment you are.
At the present on the US it depends on wich state you live at.

I agree with certain types of abortion. I think that it is the mothers choice. Lets say if a girl is rapped...or molested...she should have the choice to keep the baby or not. Or if a mother finds out there her child is extremely deformed...or ill. Or if having the child will in danger the mothers life.

HOWEVER. I do not agree in abortion as a means of birth control or late term abortion. These are wrong. There should be some sort of laws governing this....but it is difficult.

There are countries in which abortion is illegal...but these are countries with strong religious regulations. Countries in which there is no separation between the church and the state so to speak. Therefore, the church runs the state. In the United States, it is different, where we are governed by the Constitution, and our sacred "rights". Which no man can tell another how he or she can live their life. Everyone is "free" to do what they want. Freedom is what the U.S. is built on....but it also has its price.

Because in the eyes of the law an unborn fetus is not legally a person until they are born. Abortion is a morality issue not a legal issue. No matter what your opinion is (I myself am prolife) there are cases where abortion is the only option (ex: a health issue). The government should never have the power to tell a woman what she should do with her body. Even if we do not agree with a woman having an abortion all those who say it is murder are not the one who is caring the child and will have to suffer the consequences of the decision they make. It is a personal decision that no woman should be forced into choosing one way or another.

İt is a choice that a woman (maybe and a man) may choose the abortion.Sometimes we feel abortion is a murder of a human and we do not accept such a solution. However if we were in a situation like that we could or had to choose the abortion.
Think that it is not a desired child and if it is born it will be very unhappy without a normal family and will be excluded from the community.

Because some people think a fetus isn't fully human until after birth. Just like some people think life starts at conception. As long as the right to abortion is legal women will use it a solution to an unwanted pregnancy. If abortion is outlawed women who want an abortion might still be able to have one. It is Supply and demand-just like drugs.

Abortion should be illegal, I agree with you, If you play without birth Control then that kid has every right to see this world, I just don't see how a woman could do that to an unborn child, I'm a guy and If it was me I could never do it, If you think about it Life is so unimportant to the chosen few, but Live andLet Live !

You are right. Abortion is murder. It is a life. And just because you are an adult, although not acting like one, you can over power the infant life force and kill it. It is murder no matter how you cut it. The woman says it is her body, but it really isn't. Was she the creator of it??She was created through a process that God created and God created man for a purpose. We have no right to abuse our bodies, they are on loan for our use. If you are raped or abused, give the baby up for adoption. There are millions of people waiting for a baby.

Because abortion is protected by the bill of rights. "The government can not deny anyone the pursuit for happiness. If having a child would destroy a persons life they have the right to abort, and the government cant stop them because that would be denying them the right to pursue happiness.

because we live in a messed up world... women who get pregnant on accident and have abortion are murderers. plan and simple.. if they didnt want to be responsible for a child then they shouldnt have spread their legs sorry but i strongly dissagree with abortions.. if it was a life and death situation then i would understand but for you others there is a such thing called birthcontrol or condoms and if you arent responsible enough to use one of them you dont need to lay in that bed....

Because modern society is selfish and given to expediency. It is interesting to note that when a woman is going to abort, the child in her womb becomes a "fetus", but when she plans to bring the child to fruition, it is a baby. Have you ever heard anyone say, How is the fetus coming along?" to a pregnant mother to be.
