When you reach a certain point, degrees of evil are meaningless. Each exceeded that point.

In terms of body count, Hitler was a piker compared to Uncle Joe. But, the starvation deaths of Ukrainians was a (desired, I'm sure) by-product of his policy rather than the policy itself, like the "Final Solution." Hitler actively caused war. Arguably, Stalin fought a defensive war (although he helped set up the circumstances with his non-aggression pact with Germany). Hilter was defeated in six years. Stalin's legacy in eastern Europe lasted over forty.

This all depends on what you are looking at. Both were inhuman monsters, but we hear more about Hitler (Facist) and his atrocities becuase we won WWII and Uncle Joe came to our side after Hitler slapped him around like a little girl. Stalin (Communist) was ten times worse. He killed over ten million people, enslaved surrounding nations and his own people, and tried many times to destroy basic freedoms as they are known. When it comes down to Facism and Communism, go with the facist, they wear a lot of costumes, march around, and make noise. Communists tend to bring about complete anarchy at the cost of all involved and only the few at the top of the party profit from the destruction.

Certainly they were equals, both direct descendants of the Devil. But let's not rule out George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld. While they might not reach the "numbers" that Hitler and Stalin enjoyed, the three most evil, incompetent, corrupt men ever to occupy the White House have:
1. Illegally and unconstitutionally invaded another sovereign nation under false pretenses. The only reason Bush attacked Iraq was to get even with Hussein for humiliating his daddy during Desert Storm, and because Bush's boss, Dick Cheney, wants all the oil that's swimming underneath Iraq's sands;
2. Massacred tens of thousands of Iraqi elderly, women and children for with no justifiable excuse;
3. Been responsible for the deaths of over 2,500 U.S. soldiers;
4. Ruined America's fiscal stability with failed economic policies and a trillion-dollar debtload;
5. Tarnished this country's reputation as a global leader and world peacekeeper;
6. Turned the U.S. into a police state where citizens are presumed guilty until proven innocent;
7. Dismantled environmental laws designed to protect our country's fragile ecology;
8. Tortured illegally-incarcerated prisoners and condoned unspeakable abuse and murder (until it became public);
9. Neglected the needs of America's poor, hungry, homeless, sick, aged, disadvantaged and underprivileged;
10. Threatened smaller countries into concluding they, too, need nuclear weapons to protect themselves against the world's newest "evil empire" - the United States of America.
Thomas Jefferson once said: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood or patriots and tyrants." That time is way past due. It's time for another American Revolution. -RKO-

Stalin killed and enslaved a whole lot more people than Hitler and the influence of the Communists is still at large, perhaps because the founder was named, Marx, instead of Mussolini.

maximum folk now evaluate Stalin to be worse, evaluating Stalin's predicted lack of life toll of 20 million to the 6 million Jews killed contained in the Holocaust. i imagine this argument is fairly unsuitable on some counts: Hitler killed a lot more advantageous than the 6 million Jews, for one element. Over 11 million Soviet civilians were murdured through the Nazi's in only below 3 years, besides as over 3 million Soviet POW's. So take the 6 million, upload the 11 million, and the three million, and that is now a tie in words of who killed the most, and there remains more advantageous to operate to Hitlers entire. more advantageous importantly, Hitler became stopped, Stalin wasn't. Hitler might want to actual have killed over one hundred million human beings if he might want to have. and finally, even as i could not in any respect argue that Stalin's ends justified his skill, in words of searching at how evil he became in evaluation to Hitler, it concerns. Stalin killed 20 million human beings in an attempt to convey a rustic purely leaving the middle a even as into the industial age. Hitler killed 20+ million in an attempt to kill over one hundred million human beings and wipe total races and cultures off the planet. Stalin became terrible, yet Hitler became in a kind all to himself even as it includes evil.

I would say that Hitler was the greater of two evils......he initiated the near-extinction of an entire race of people.
