The last time i did a home pregnancy test it came up as positive, I went to the doctor and twice it came back negative. Nine months later I gave birth to a beautiful daughter. Try again in a few days time, if it still comes up positive I would trust the home kit, just get it confirmed with the doctor after two weeks.

I am not sure but I would say to take care of yourself as if you were pregnant. You may well be and you would want to get off to a good start with it. The tests you are taking at home are urine tests, and so are the doctors. So either one could be right. Wait another 2 weeks and then go back to the doctor. If it is still negative, and you have not started your period and you think you are pregnant. Ask the doctor to do a sonogram. Explain to him you have done several home tests and get some positive results, and are still late on your period and see if he will do it. A little costly. Not sure how much in Ireland, about 200.00 here where I live. Or just wait it out another month. If you are pregnant you will start having some signs soon and then go back. Ex...morning sickness, sore breasts, fatigue, etc. Good luck.

I think if you especially requested a blood test they would do one, have you tried ringing your local family planning clinic? Alternatively I would ask for a second opinion as if you got several positive results yourself, its very odd that the doctor got a negative result. Surely your doctor wants to find out why you are so late in your cycle & are getting positive results on a pregnancy test?
It may be a sign that you are pregnant & there is a mistake/problem with the doctors test. It may be that you have some other underlying condition or problems resulting in the delay of your cycle. Either way - I would think it essential that a pregnancy be confirmed or be disconfirmed & the reason for the delay in your period found. Surely it is in the best interests for 'your baby' & you should you actually be pregnant? It also means you get the longest duration possible to consider the options (if any) if you are pregnant.
Get a second opinion I say!!

When you take a pregnancy test, it is possible to get 'false negatives', meaning that you are in fact pregnant, yet the test just isnt showing it. However, there is no way that you can get a 'false positive' meaning the test says your pregnant when you really arent, since it's looking for a certain hormone. The next time you take a test and it comes up positive, take it to the doctor and show them, then maybe they will finally start giving you the proper care

There is no such a thing as a false positive, if your pregnancy test says positive you probably are. It all depends on how many units of the hormone hcg the pregnancy tests read. The one your doctor is testing you with is probably not reading small amounts of the hormone and the ones you have taken are probably more sensitive. Do you have any symptoms? wait a few days and test again because the hcg hormone doubles every other day so the lines in your HPT's should get darker.

Go back to the doctor in a few weeks and Im sure his will come up positive too...there are several different reasons why his might of come up negative...(this happened to me too)...you could possibly be less pregnant than you think...(this happened to me)...Truth is if you had a positive pregnancy test at home than chances are you are indeed pregnant..only in very very very rare circumstances can you have a false positive result...false negative results are far more common...just be patient..(I know its hard) ....and see where a couple of weeks take you..

Sorry Iverson but you can get false positive urine tests, and it's not uncommon in home tests. A very concentrated urine can cause a flase positive. The only definitive way is to have a blood test done, and your GP should be able to take blood for it and send it to the local laboratory, or send you to have blood taken at the hospital.

Is the positive coming up inside the time limit? If it is after the time limit then it MAY be a evaporation line. False true positives are extremely rare. False negatives are more common.
Get a Digital test kit, then you will know for sure. They read instantly and wont give a false positive.
If your brain is telling you you are pregnant and you feel it, then look after yourself until you know 100% that you are or not.
GOOD LUCK & Baby Dust x

If you have a high hormone levle, you will always get an inaccurate reading from home preg. tests. Find a way to get the blood work done. Missed periods are not always a sign you are pregnant. Stress is one of the biggest reasons.

I don't know, but I think false negatives are more likely/common than false negatives. Maybe you should wait another week or so and try to get tested again at the doctor and see what happens.
