Is there a difference between the Shuffle and the Nano besides one having a screen and the other having none? What's the pros and cons?

And what does a standard iPod package come with? Do I need to buy separate accessories for the iPod like a charger? What does it have? Software? Charger?

A shuffle has no screen and less memory(512 meg and 1 gig) than a Nano (2 gig and 4 gig). The battery on a shuffle lasts much longer than with a nano because it lacks the screen. There is a switch on the back of the shuffle where you can choose continuous play, shuffle or repeat. Both come with headphones and the Nano comes with a cord to connect to your computers USB 2.0 port. Neither come with a charger as they will be charged through your computer. The biggest advantage of the Nano is it's color screen where you can display album art, photos or watch video's. If you just need a music player and have a large collection of music on you computer to "shuffle" songs and playlists from then you can't go wrong with a shuffe.

I have a 60 gig Ipod and a 512 meg shuffle. I love both. The shuffle is great for running, snowboarding, biking...whatever as it only cost $69 and I won't have a heart attack if I lost or broke it.

The shuffle is physically smaller and lighter (plastic) and has a string so you can wear it around your neck like a necklace. It holds less songs and doesn't have a screen so you can't see what is coming next or create playlists etc. The Shuffle plugs directly into a USB port on your computer to transfer songs or to recharge.

The Nano is slightly larger, metal, has a color screen, and holds many times more songs. It can also store photos. It connects to your PC via a cable so you can have it laying on your desk while you load it with songs or charge its battery.

I much prefer the Nano but if cost is an issue the Shuffle is more than adequate. For small children I would recommend the Shuffle, but for older ones I recommend the Nano. Either way, an MP3 player sure is a heck of a lot more convenient than dealing with a portable CD player and carting around dozens of kids cds.

On a shuffle you cannot choose what songs you listen to that is why it doesn't have a screen. On the plus side it has a portable charger. The nano has more sizes. If your bored during class you can play games on a nano unlike the shuffle.

Shuffle:
The good: Design is dead simple and compact yet stylish and wearable; excellent integration with iTunes; solid sound quality; affordable.

The bad: No LCD; no extra features such as an equalizer; slow transfer speeds.

The bottom line: The iPod Shuffle, with its ultralow price, its dead-simple design, and its iTunes integration, is virtually guaranteed to be a hit, especially among those looking for a second iPod.

Nano:
The good: The iPod Nano has a gorgeous, superslim design with a bright, photo-friendly screen. It is easy to operate and works seamlessly with iTunes and the iTunes Music Store, which has the world's largest selection of music. It boasts a nimble processor and system performance with no skipping, thanks to flash memory.

The bad: The iPod Nano suffers from unspectacular battery life, and though the device is durable, it scratches easily; blemishes show up more drastically on the black version. The Nano is pricey in terms of gigabytes per dollar, and its 4GB maximum capacity is not a good fit for many power users. The player skips many sought-after extra features such as FM radio and A/V-out, and it doesn't work with Camera Connector. The USB power adapter ($29) is not included.

The bottom line: Thanks to its limited capacity, the gorgeous iPod Nano isn't for everybody, but it sets the standard for MP3 players to come.

If you want a cheeper iPod go with the Shuffle, but if you're willing to spend a little more go for the Nano.

Shuffle doesn't have a screen. But I think that the Nano does. I have a shuffle and I love it. It fits into my pocket and I can't feel it at all. And it is so easy to use. I wouldn't trade it for any other kind!

Shuffle is cheaper and just shuffles all the songs in your Library.
No screen, can't choose which song you want. No other options available, like games or calender or anything.

Nano is more expensive. It has a screen, so other options are there.

Depends on what you use it for. If you like to target specific songs then you'll need one with a screen. If you can just push play and listen then get the shuffle. They both come with everything you will need.
