start a story in mid sentence!!! hahaha no kidding!! then they'll think you're crazy and steer clear! with my job I talk to strangers everyday. you just have to ask a question with intreeg and a suttle opinion and they will talk back. the weather is good cause it's general and common ground. say something like "how 'bout this weather It would be a great day to...." usually they'll tone right in! :)

Comment on the situation you are in. Like standing in line at Wal-Mart: "They are a little slow/quick today, huh?" Or if you are at a bar, comment on something like the decor or ask what they suggest for a drink.

The old stand-by ice-breakers-

Talking about the weather, paying them a compliment on something they're wearing, the book they're reading, etc., asking what time it is. They always seem to work.
