They are always using the term neo-con....which doesn't apply to anyone I know...not entirely sure what it means.
Is it that hard for them to spell?

I use the word fear...for lack of a better term. It could just as easily be insecurity, or lack of manners.

Because they are afraid... they know that they have two years to try to convince America that being conservative is wrong, and are afraid its not going to happen... because most people know the truth.

The truth is of course that what Answerman said is wrong, either through ignorance or he wants to change the facts. He linked conservatives with NAZI Germany. Heads up kids, Hitler was a socialist... that's right, a liberal. It the the liberal, democratic president FDR who had dealings with NAZI Germany.

The term Neo-Con is in flux, it doesn't have much of a meaning yet. It is used interchangeable to describe the far right and the right leaning moderates. If you want to frustrate a liberal when they use it ask what it means. They get that deer in the headlights look every time.

Note to BrianW_28: I must have been typing when your answer popped up, I didn't see it. Congratulations on being one of the few libs around here who can not only spell but use coherent sentences AND string them together to convey coherent thoughts.

I think of Conservatives and Neo-Cons as two very different things. A Conservative is someone like Barry Goldwater, William F. Buckley, even George Will. These are people I disagree with, but I have a great deal of respect for. They are thoughtful, intelligent individuals who truly have ideas for the betterment of America.

Neo-Cons are the ones who try to change the Constitution to suit their whims, who spend money freely, who so believe in their own foreign policy that their willing to "stay the course" because they had planned this war for more than a decade that they can't even recognize their own failure.

The two different terms, as I use them, are out of respect for the few remaining true Conservatives - people whom I can oppose but respect.

NOTE TO JESI:

I just defined it for you - no deer in headlights here. I'll take you on in a debate any time.

Loubean I am not afraid at all to call you a conservitive as that is what you are. However as W Brian 28 has pointed out there is a difference between conservitive such as yourself or John McCain and a NeoCon such as some of the religious right or some of the people on this site who want to take freedom away from Muslims gays and other groups who aren't "American".

Also there are a difference between Liberals like myself or Paul Martin and "America haters" also represented on this site and around the world. These extreme groups wouldn't even talk to you in the case of the left ones nor me in the case of the right winged ones.

First of all neocon is a new age conservative or one that believes in an agenda of spreading democracy to our enemies in order to protect us. The term arose from the pinoc doctrine which meany leftist believe Bush is following in trying to install a democratic regime in a party of the world that is not democratic now (Iraq \ middle east).

Second they think the term "neocon" might resonate with the moderates of country like "liberal" did for Reagan years ago. That lable sticks and still hurts them politically so they want to label conservatives "neocons" in hopes of it sticking and hurting the "right side" politically. What they don't get is the difference between right and left is what has them at a disavantage not the terms or labels.

Neo-Con or new conservative denotes the party's ultra right wing stance that is linked to Nazi Germany, there are many parallels with the two party's and it becomes easy to see when you open your mind and listen to what us liberals are saying.

Liberalism is an ideology, philosophy, and political tradition that holds liberty as the primary political value.[1] Broadly speaking, liberalism seeks a society characterized by freedom of thought for individuals, limitations on power, especially of government and religion, the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market economy that supports relatively free private enterprise, and a transparent system of government in which the rights of minorities are guaranteed. In modern society, liberals favour a liberal democracy with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law and an equal opportunity to succeed[2]. Liberalism rejected many foundational assumptions which dominated most earlier theories of government, such as the Divine Right of Kings, hereditary status, and established religion. Fundamental human rights that all liberals support include the right to life, liberty, and property. In many countries, "modern" liberalism differs from classical liberalism by asserting that government provision of some minimal level of material well-being takes priority over freedom from taxation. Liberalism has its roots in the Western Enlightenment, but the term now encompasses a diversity of political thought, with adherents spanning a large part of the political spectrum, from left to right. In the context of economics, the term "liberalism" refers to economic liberalism, which is associated with the political ideology of liberalism itself.

I'm Liberal, my girlfriend is a Conservative Republican -
how's my spelling?
Can all of you angry people handle this? Take an example.

Do you think the guy above me, reads his own answers?
I mean if you're going to take the time to throw insults -
Good thing for me, he represents you.

why are conservatives or Republicans so afraid to use the word Democrat?

Exactly as you are?

I guess it's too hard for you to spell?

Liberal is a dirty word for conservatives and Republicans... neo-con is for Democrats

Why do you assume that is a fear that causes them to use these terms? Are you asking the question because you want an answer or to merely insult others that dare to disagree with your opinion?

There is no difference between a republican, Democrat, liberal. They all spend our money just for what they want to spend it for.
