Maybe the Neo-cons, but not the rest of us.

I firmly believe that Democracy, Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of the Press, and the Freedom to Assemble should be the world standard.

However, I don't think force is the best way to spread Democracy. I think the current adminstration is making the world less safe and less free.

Iran had a reformist president before Bush called them Evil - now they have a Fundamentalist who was an organizer of the '79 revolution. And look where we are with them.

Force cannot spread Freedom unless the entire world is truly under threat (i.e. WW II).

Spreading democracy has nothing to do with making the world the USA. The USA wants other politically and economically oppressed nations to progress and become economic partners with the USA and other nations of the world. Most nations around the world are not democracies and when you look at how their economy compared to the standard of living their citizens have, they live below a standard that could be considered human. This is one reason why the USA wants to spread democracy and freedom. Because we know that people who are free and have economic freedom in a democratic society are happy people and do not oppress others around the world.

Some people think that the USA has too much authority over the world. Consider the movie, "Team America: World Police".

No..I think the outspoken goal is to make the country safe for Americans...legal Americans.
Is the US a Superpower...of course. Are we happy to be? who wouldn't....that's like asking a homeless person if they wouldn't rather live in Beverly Hills....but it doesn't mean that we are trying to take over the world....look at us after WWI, when we had the chance but did not...

There may be an element of that in the thinking. The basic idea is to, as our Constitution states in the Preamble, "secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity." If we can turn the troublemakers of the world into reasonably democratic and productive countries, their people will be happier and less likely to cause mischief for the rest of us.

I think that you have been loitering on the Grassy Knoll waiting for the Free Masons and the Black Helicopters to take over the country. Go with the Orange Kool Aid

Sure looks that way. Every culture in the world is being ruined with WalMarts, MacDonalds, Starbucks, and WalGreens to name a few.

I don't think the US wants the rest of the world to be part of the US, because then we would have to share what we have with them fairly. I think the US just wants to exploit the rest of the world to get what the US wants from them.

No we have enough on our plates as it is.
We would save a lot of lives and money if we didn't have to help every country that cried poor me.
