We have a small office (just 3) I do not expect the boss who signs my check to clean the bathroom, but the other emplyee just will not help out with the bathroom work... I've even mentioned"Chip, your next to clean the bathroom" but still a week goes by & I end up cleaning it again.. I'm so fed up with his laziness. I thought a check sheet or sign log might help... any suggestions..
sincerely, fed up w/ lazy coworker

Why don't you just make one up on Word or Excel. You don't need a special one, just a piece of paper that says "name" and "date" at the top.

If you just made a simple list, still no one would do it. Your name would be the only one on the list.
On the bottom of the list write "This list will be turned in weekly to the Boss for his review". Now you will start getting some names on that list.
Have your Boss introduce the list.
Most employees don't want to volunteer for any extra work. It usually ends up being the job of the "highly motivated" types like yourself.
It's not a bad thing to be the "cleaner of the bathroom". It shows the boss you know what needs to be done and you get it done. However you lack leadership skills to be able to successfully delegate chores.
I would make the list, put the warning on the bottom, continue to be the only one cleaning the bathroom and then get one person to help clean. Then take it to the boss and show him your progress. You will come out ahead on this task as long as you show progression from doing to delegating....

Good luck.

I know exactly what you mean there's 3 of us without counting the boss we don't expect the boss to do it. As long as you continue to clean they will continue to dirty it and be lazy as much as you don't like let it be you are not the cleaning lady and that is the same problem I was having at my job that bathroom everyday smells horrible and just looks disgusting the 1st time I cleaned it cause I couldn't see myself using a nasty *** bathroom like that I approached the other to employees and told them that it is time to start taking turns at lease on picking up the bathroom and garbage they said they would and didn't I got tired and picked up after everyone. That was my biggest mistake and you are about to do the same. There comes a point were you are just going to have to say **** it and let it be!! YOUR ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERY ONES MESS.

Melonie...I sugest you ask your boss whos reponsibility it is to clean the restroom while the other employee is present. This should clear his mind of any excuse he might come up with...Good luck!
