So that my ears don't have to suffer the awful nonsense that is wafting around at the moment

Chances are, never. Has it occurred to you that you may just be getting older and no longer 'in touch' or perhaps they just don't make music like they used to? Don't panic! Just dig out all your favourite old CD's and listen to them and castigate the kids for listening to crap (Ideally wait until one of your favourite songs is covered and moan like buggery that its not as good as the original) I works for me

I'm a big fan of the 60's and the Beatles. I think the 70's are coming back. You see a lot of 70's bands surfacing now and we will either go back to the 60's or advance to the 80's before long. Man keep it 60's. Peace.

I think it's sort of on a downhill slide - unless theres some big new alternative movement that really makes stuff pick up again(we're due for another, theres been nothing like that since grunge)i'm not sure that it'll ever recover!!

I'm guessing you weren't around in the '80's!! The choice and variation of music available now is better than it ever has been. Stop whining and enjoy. If you can't find anything that suits your tastes then you're either extremely lazy or extremely dull. Make your own!!

There's loads of good music...have a listen to Ben Folds, Radiohead, or some Jazz funk. I promise you, it's safe, no GBH here.
