Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom are the two least expensive deluxe resorts on property. Both are great. But, I don't recommend staying in a standard room at either. If you want to go to Animal Kingdom you want to upgrade to the Savannah, that is what makes the resort special. At Wilderness the standard rooms can be a little noisy and aren't in a good location.
The moderates are all pretty similar. Port Orleans is the most popular resorts for moderates. I like Coronado, I think it has a more deluxe feel. It is their conference hotel, so a lot of business people stay there. That means it tends to be more quiet during the day and things, and you will have fewer kids. Caribbean is also great, but I recommend upgrading to the preferred location. The resort is pretty large and if you get on the back side of the hotel, it can be a pain. It isn't really that bad, but after walking through parks your whole vacation, every little bit helps.
You can't go wrong with any moderate or deluxe. I feel the deluxes are worth the upgrade, but if you are trying to save money, you can stay at the moderates, they are just fine. You could even stay at a moderate and use the money you save to get the dining plan, which is an amazing deal.
No matter where you stay you are going to have a blast! Enjoy!

Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom are some of the deluxe resorts which are the more expensive at Disney. The moderate resorts are Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter, Caribbean Beach Resort, and Coronado Springs Resort. I like the Port Orleans Resorts (either one).
I listed a great fan sites that has pictures of the rooms at all the resorts.

Caribbean Beach because the land its on is amazing! You feel like you're at the beach! Theres this area with sand around like a pond where you can rent boats and things like that. On the sand there are hammocks, totally relaxing! And the hotel is divinded up into villages and each village has its own pool! But the main pool is great, it has a waterslide and everything! The food court and gift shops are together and they're beautiful! They're in this building called Old port Royale, inside the walls are beautiful bright tropic colors and thers tons of windows so you feel all airy and light. There's also a full service restaurant there called Shutter's. Its so pretty! I've only stayed there once but I'd love to stay again! And its super close to EPCOT because you can see the big ball (spaceship earth) from some areas on property! The rooms are nice too. they're not the largest rooms out there but as long as you don't have a family of 6 in one room, they should be just fine.
Whichever Disney hotel you pick, I'm sure will be wonderful!
Have a Magical trip!

Animal Kingdom is one of the most expensive, I think. I stayed last year in Port Orleans Riverside....it was really nice. There are pools by each block of hotel rooms..plus a very large pool in the middle. Great restaurant in the lobby...and about a fifteen minute bus ride into the parks. The rooms were really nice and clean...but I suspect they all are at Disney.
I have also stayed at Caribbean Beach...they are nice as well...but a little older.
Here is a suggestion: when you go...definitely do the meal plan. It costs around $35 a day per adult, and $10 a day per child. This includes one counter service meal, one sit down meal, and one snack. The counter service meals for us (we had 4 people) were about $50 each time....and the sit down meals: with the meal plan you each get an appetizer, ANY item from the menu, and dessert. It also includes your tip...and our dinners were, on average...$150. Not that you would eat like that if you were paying cash....but it is a really great deal. Have fun!

Well, first I just have to say, the value resorts are a great deal of fun, despite what their pricetag might say. Particularly the Pop Century, which has a great feel to it thanks to the theme, and is extremely large, spanning 10 hotel buildings and a main food and shopping lobby area, with each of the ten buildings boasting their own pool themed to each decade.
Now that I've gotten that off my chest, onto your choices.
Animal kingdom lodge is extremely expensive, and unless you get a room with a view of the savanna, its not particularly worth it. Even with a savanna room, on hot days, it is likely no animals will visit your window like advertised, so it can be quite a letdown.
I would suggest the Coronado Springs. It is moderately priced but has all the features of a deluxe resort. For one, you have your choice of rooms, so you can pick one which best suits your tastes and style. There are the more classic hotel rooms in the conference center if you're into simplicity. There are also the cabana rooms across the lake from the conference center hotel rooms, which are great if you like to be a bit more creative. They are spacious, clustered in small groups for a fair amount of quiet, and are themselves themed into ifferent types, like the Arizona Mesa-style to a more tropical cabana/hut look.
The pool there is fantastic, featuring a large temple waterfall, around which flows a waterslide that is quite fun for children and adults alike. The pool features a wide range of depths for every member of the family, and a great hot tub by the tropical plants they have surrounding it,
There is also a great oppourtunity for some on-resort, non-disney fun. That is, for a small price, you can rent peddle carriages and bikes which you can ride around the many paths surrounding the cabanas of the property. It's a great way to get a bit of quiet and tour your resort in a more interesting way than on foot.
Be aware, however, that the food is serve marketplace style, and you'll be hard-pressed to find food for picky eaters, so it's recommended you eat somewhere else if you're not into that.

cool, i hope you have a fun and relaxing time! You should stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, because it has a relaxing, yet exiting theme, plus.. you get a nice view of animals! Also, it is the close to all of the parks! And if you stay there, you should get the disney dining plan- you get 3 free meals and 1 snack everyday!- and you end up saving cash$$$!!!!!! this hotel also has a tour at Animal Kingdom Park! It is cool, and you get breakfast without spending money for each dish.
o yeah--- make sure you GO TO BOMA!!!! it is the best!!!
try the fu-fu!!! it is sweet, also try the fruit tarts!!!they are healthy and sweet to eat!!! ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET
IF YOU GO TO JIKU--- the "Taste of Africa" is the best -(the green dip is great!!!)

We've stayed at Port Orleans Riverside several times and love it. There's a lot to do on sight and it's beautiful at night. The price is much more moderate that some of the others and the staff is outstanding. I highly recommend it.
