They are completely over and have one child. There is absolutely no communication between them but sometimes I feel that it is wrong.

It's not wrong, but please, make sure he is seperated from his mother as well, there are too many guys out there with THAT issue.

Im not going to judge. I will give you some facts. Since he isnt divorced and there is a child involved you could be putting his visitation/custody in jeopardy. Depending on what kind of person his wife is and why they are seperated she could problems. And there has to be some communication if he loves his child. If either one has filed for divorce and he is fighting for custody or visitation, back off until the divorce is final. Or if the papers are filed but he wants nothing to do with his child, then its your decision.

Well, yes, it is wrong, because he has not gone through the proper channels to release his Promise before God to "love honor and cherish until death do we part" to his wife. You have to ask yourself some major questions here regarding this:
1) What is the reason for him not being divorced?
2) Has he made plans to file, and how soon will he carry them out?
3) Is there an ulterior motive for not filing for divorce?
(for most men in that situation, they withhold filing for divorce because they internally do not want to let go, while showing externally that they want to be apart from her.)
In this instance, he may still be getting his pie and cake too by remaining married, but dating you.
This is a dangerous area to be in, because although your feelings are genuine, you have no way of knowing his true feelings.
I wish you luck in this.

Well it's not wrong because it's over but now he needs to go ahead and get that divorce. I believe the divorce would make you feel better about this situation. But if I was you, I would slow down a bit until he makes it official.

i think the ethical problem only lies within their hearts and minds and not necessarily with the legal end of it

if it is just a matter of filing paperwork and if he's ultimately going to get the divorce anyway, i wouldnt worry too much

if you get a sense that there is something left there, then i'd recommend against it

divorce happens in the mind long before it happens in the courts

Difficult to say... it (the case) would be different in different cases. I, personally, would NEVER get involved with a separated man. The wife(x-wife) will always be involved and you never know if he will eventually get back with his wife because of the child.. or you never know if he is using both you and the x-wife as his own private harem... Too many intangibles

It isn't wrong but you should be careful. If they are completely over then he should be working hard to get the divorce finalized. If he isn't then there is something wrong.

If they are not divorced they can still go back to each other. That's the wrong part for you.

been there, done that, wouldn't suggest it. and besides, would you want to be with a man that can't communicate with the mother of his child? sounds childish to me.

I hope not. If it was I wouldn't have met my current wife (15 years and counting).

Just be careful.
