Go to the nearest drugstore and ask for seabands. They are wrist bands that were used by the Navy to hinder sea sickness. They work so well for morning sickness! You just put them on, make sure the little plastic dots are in the right place, (The package will explain it for you) and within 5 minutes, you should feel better. It's a pressure point thing, and it's amazing. The seabands cost around $8.00.

Morning sickness begins as early as 4 weeks pregnant. I know because mine did!

Try these tips first: 1/2 unisom with a vitamin B6 supplement in late afternoon. This may make you a little sleepy, but I would strongly suggest NOT taking a full dose as you'll be sleeping for hours! Make sure that you're getting plenty of water - don't gulp it. Take several sips as often as possible. Don't eat big meals, eat small things around 6 times a day. Take a few small bites of frozen grapefruit juice every now and then - I found this helps. People say ginger helps too, personally I don't like the taste or the smell. Destination maternity/mimi/motherhood stores sell something called "preggie pops" - these are actually pretty good.

Just so you also know, early signs of extreme morning sickness that lasts all day & all night is also a sign of twin/multiple pregnancy. I found this out after finding out that I'm pregnant with twins, and started reading up on it. I'm now 16 weeks pregnant, and the morning sickness is finally starting to ease down. My doctor prescribed Zofran for me - very expensive $3000+ medicine, but it worked wonders. It's a instant-dissolve anti-nausea pill.

If you feel like you're getting dehydrated, try taking the sips of water as often as possible. If you have no spit, can't tear, or not urinating, you may need to go to the hospital to get an IV. This is worst case scenario. Don't let it get that far!

But I always recommend to give your doctor a call. My doctor's office has a wonderful nurse line that I can call whenever I want, with as many little questions as I want. And they always call me back right away. That's what they're there for! To make sure that you're comfortable, and that baby's ok.

Well one good thing is it usually starts to go away by week 12. Welcome to morning sickness. I'm about 12 weeks right now and JUST starting to get over my morning sickness which I had from about week 2 until now. I know it's no fun. Everyone says ginger helps. Try either a ginger powder or pill or some ginger cookies. If that doesn't help try ginger ale, at one point that was the only way to get any food in me because my nausea was so bad. If you still feel sick you could need an anti-nausea drug from your doctor if you can't keep water down for at least 24 hours. Sometimes for me it helps to take at least half a tums to help with the stomach acid and no worries, tums is ok during pregnancy.

Oh I remember that not too long ago. Sorry that you feel sick all the time. That's how I felt, especially the after taste of everything, so I chewed gum. Nothing else but chewing gum made me feel better. Also a lot of spitting. But about my fifth month I felt so much better and I ate everything that I could. I didn't feel sick at all. But then around seven months came the heart burn. I hope that you don't suffer with that.
Just find something that doesn't make you sick(like gum, mints, suckers, ice) and suck on those. But there is really nothing you can do unless you are violently vomiting/diarrhea all the time then check with your OB. Congrats on the new family member. Try to enjoy your pregnancy.

Oh you poor thing- I had the same issue. What I did that really helped was the following:

1. For nausea, I used Reed's Ginger Brew ( you can get it at any grocery store)

2. For sour stomach/ heartburn, I would eat baked potatoes and/or dry toast.

Also, realize that your prenatal vitamins may be causing some of your symptoms, and you may want to try taking them at night with some dry toast , just so your stomah has some food in it and also when your body begins to digest the vitamin, you will be sleeping.

Good luck and I hope you feel better

if you're actually throwing up constantly and not just feeling sick, then you need to talk to your doctor. there is a condition of severe morning sickness called hyperemesis. it can cause a lot of problems if left untreated. there are medications to help ease the nausea. there's also an over the counter remedy but i'll let you ask your doctor about that because it's not safe for everyone. for more help go to www.hyperemesis.org otherwise, good luck, for most people with regular morning sickness it ends around 12 weeks. hang in there.

Welcome to the wonderful world of being a pregnant lady! :)
I threw up ever morning after brushing my teeth for a good 2 months along with nausea all day and night. After that I was nauseous periodically throughout the day for another month or so. Then, things got better! And, as a result, I have a beautiful 9 month old son at home who I love dearly. It is SO worth it! Just hang in there!! :)
Oh, and people will tell you to eat this or that...nothing ever worked for me. But, I made sure I never let myself get too hungry because then it was worse.

Eat little and regular
Try eating ginger sweets when you feel sick
Breath slow and deep

If the sickness is all day every day and more than the typical morning sickness you can get suitable tablets from your doctor, I did and it stopped the 24 hrs a day sickness and heartburn with no bad side effects, the ones I used were called metroclopramide

I empathize with you! I was pretty sick for the first trimester with both of my pregnancies. Nibbling on saltines helped me. My aunt swears by green grapes. You might try a bit of this & that to see what works for you. This feeling is normal, and should pass by 12 weeks or so. If not, get in touch with your OB for options.

Until then, try to hang in there. It will get better! Congrats, & good luck!

I know how you feel! I was never sick with 2 of my pregnancies but very sick with 1 of them. Some things that helped me...

- completely avoiding caffeine (including chocolate, I'm afraid) or carbonated beverages
- The Brewer Diet (look up blueribbonbaby.com)
- Peppermint tea (decaf!)
- Warm herbal eye packs or warm washcloths over your head/eyes when you lay down
- Eat as soon as you wake up...I used to keep dried fruits or nuts by my bedside so I could eat literally the moment I woke up.
- I got sick if I got in the car within 2 hours of waking up so I tried to avoid that if possible
- Drink lots of water
- Do some kind of calming exercise like tai chi or yoga

Also I could not tolerate the taste of toothpaste! I ended up brushing my teeth with extremely cold water because if I used the paste, I felt like I was going to throw up for hours. It is as effective as using toothpaste if you are thorough. :)
