How can anyone living today be the ancestor of someone who lived 200 years ago? Did you fix that time machine?

The antiwar, can't-we-all-just-get-along libs are in fact the descendants of the yellow spineless supporters of the king.

And actually Hitler was a socialist which makes him a liberal!

(Please note that I am not saying all liberals are as evil and demented as Hitler... well actually... no on second thought I'm not saying that at all, too controversial.)

You might want to think before you type. A vote to every white male land owner over 21 was pretty revolutionary stuff in 1775. The Founding Fathers were taking a principled stand and risking their lives. It was the Tories who were pledging allegiance to King George. They made up about a third of the population, the same proportion who support President Bush today. The Tories were the ones who believed in never questioning King George and having him make all their decisions, the same way you pledge allegiance to President Bush.

Truth is, your political mindset consists of this cartoonish idea of
true-blue God-fearing apple-pie flag-waving Americans pitted against the secular, affluent, educated, tolerant liberals who have inexplicably sided with the brown swarthy Moslem horde who want to kill us all because they hate our freedom. Anything that complicates that---our dependence on foreign oil, a relentless guerilla war, skyrocketing sums of money borrowed from the Chinese, refusal to acknowledge mistakes were made, war profiteering by the President's cronies, an apathetic public, PR blunders left and right---is simply tuned out because it doesn't fit with your preconceived notion that you never gave much thought to in the first place.

You are more like the Tories.

The exact opposite, actually. Liberals are in favor of change, while Conservatives are for the status quo. Thus, those who wanted to maintain the monarchy would have been Conservatives. Those who wished to maintain slavery - Conservatives. Those who wanted to keep the right to vote away from women - Conservatives.

Those are your political ancestors. Mine fought for freedom - mine fought for liberty - mine fought for suffrage. My political ancestors have always fought to make the nation better for ALL people - not just "royalty".

Do you see the connection?
Conservatives would want to maintain the monarchy - the power of the few over the many.
Conservatives would want to maintain slavery - the power of the wealthy to own the poor.
Conservatives would want to keep the right to vote away from women - the power of man over woman.
Conservatives today continue to maintain the status quo and fight for the rights of the powerful over those who do not have power.

So, there's the American political legacy. Ready to switch sides?

JESI:
For crap's sake, where do you people learn history? Hitler was a Fascist. He KILLED socialists. READ A FREAKIN' BOOK, please! You're second massively uninformed person today who's said that. What is this complete lack of historical understanding?

I guess we're decedents of the "cowardly" conservatives from WWII that didn't want to fight Hitler... and you guys are new "new Democratic party"?

but as many have clearly said... those that blindly support a leader, as the modern conservatives do, seem to have much more in common with those you speak of...

Jesi: half of you conservatives say we are communist (even though the communist were fighting Hitler), and now your saying we are "socialist" (even though Hitler was technically more of a fascist, clearly, and just said he was a socialist... but I'm sure you believe everything he says)...

So, apparently we are evil bad in every way... why don't you just call us devil worshipers and cut out the middle man... hahaha...

Had there been conservative and liberal "labels" back in the revolutionary days, most colonists would have been liberals, fighting for equality, freedom, and less government interference in our everyday lives.

Conservatives are power hungry; they want all the power and wealth to be in the hands of a relatively small minority. Consider that George W. Bush has already:

1. Illegally and unconstitutionally invaded another sovereign country that did not provoke, threaten or attack the U.S.A.;
2. Massacred tens of thousands of inncoent Iraqi women, children and elderly citizens for no justifiable reason;
3. Been responsible for the deaths of more than 2,500 U.S. soldiers;
4. Bankrupted this country financially and morally by putting us trillions of dollars into debt, all for an unjust "war";
5. Trashed our reputation for being the world's peacekeeper and a global leader;
6. Neglected the needs of America's aged, disabled, hungry, homeless, poor, underprivileged, and disadvantaged;
7. Tortured illegally-imprisoned human beings and condoned unspeakable civilian murders;
8. Dismantled laws that were designed to protect America's fragile environment and the world's crumbling ecology;
9. Threatened smaller countries into believing they, too, must develop nuclear weapons to defend themselves against the Earth's new "evil empire": the United States of America;
10. Turned our country into a police state wherein citizens are assumed to be guilty until proven innocent.

George Bush and his boss, Dick Cheney, along with Donald Rumsfeld are the true "turncoats" - and they deserve to be tried for high treason, and - if convicted - they deserve to face a public firing squad.

The present U.S. Congress is the most evil, corrupt and incompetent body ever to occupy the Capitol Building. They, too, deserve to be impeached or tried for high treason.

Surely Satan has a special oil-soaked corner of Hell reserved for these wicked, repugnant power brokers. There are only two reasons Bush attacked Iraq: 1) he wanted to get even for Hussein humiliating his daddy during Desert Storm and 2) Big Dick Cheney wants all that oil that's swimming under Iraq's sands.

There will be NO TROOP WITHDRAWAL from Iraq until Cheney has a rock-solid, iron-clad arrangement in place to steal all that oil so that he and his Halliburton pals can get richer and richer and richer.

Bush has played 'Robin Hood in Reverse', taking from the poor and giving it all to his rich, powerful elitist friends, lobbyists, special interest groups, government consultants, and mammoth corporations who can all make generous (if not illegal) contributions to keep the GOP in power. Our revolutionist ancestors would have been appalled at how this administration has played Dictator.

Thomas Jefferson once said: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." That time is way overdue. It's time for another American Revolution.

So, if you think liberals are the evil renegade turn-coats, think again: your conservative conspirators are overwhelmingly more repugnant, without conscience or civility. -RKO-

Today's libs are the trash bag hippies from the 60s trying to re-live their glory days by trying to make problems out of nothing so they can hate their country and smoke pot.

They want Iraq to be Vietnam so bad they can hardly contain themselves from starting protests.

No, their descendants [not ancestors, you goof!] are the neo-cons who always stick with the existing pro-rich anti-poor-people government, just like the ones who supported the crown.

I look forward to the "tea party" this November and in 2008!

People in glass houses should not throw stones. I wouldn't be insulting the intelligence of others if I were you.

Oh yeah-

No patience for mindless, knee-jerk drivel from wannabe conservatives who contort reality, fear facts and spew baseless, inane, biased opinions. And are imbeciles.
