a pretty tough tax law that you now requeires you to pay 1% of your total gross to the State of Texas. I don't have a problem with gains and taxation to help the great State of Texas but I would bet that the giants of oil that are the standard here are not paying it... What are your thoughts on taxation fair or unfair, and while I am betting you hate them, why?

Good point, JM and while I have colleagues and friends in the oil industry they have not been able to say either way and we have debated it to death… I am sure Texans would have seen an immediate benefit from 1% of the oil market share!

I think there should be an across the board tax on all people. A set percentage that we all pay with no loopholes. You earn X you pay Y, simple. As it is there are so many tax dodges for the wealthy that they never have to pay their fair share. Of course there is another side to your oil picture. Just think of the poor towns in Oklahoma and elsewhere that have had to watch all of their executive oil jobs migrate to Huston. The economy of Texas is certainly not hurt by having all of those high paying jobs there.

First of all, don't you think you should prove oil companies are exempt from the tax?
