I have a web page, and I want to know which images I can use. Can I just do a yahoo search for images and use what comes up? What about other websites, how do they get their images of things like actors, etc.? I know that they can't all be taking their own because you see the same ones on many sites. My site is a Harry Potter site, so if anyone has a site that has images I can use, let me know!

As a general rule in the United States, you can use a copyrighted image for an educational, research, or not-for-profit purpose. If you or your child are using an image for a school research project, for example, that should be fair game. If you’re using a copyrighted image as wallpaper for your computer, you should be fine as well. But if you’re using a copyrighted image for a for-profit purpose, that breaks the law.

fan sites are frowned on by the people they are making the site about. they don't like it when you use their images, music and videos. this breaks their copyright. do not bother contacting them and asking if you can use these things because they will threaten to sue you in court. if they catch you with these things on your site they will again threaten to sue you. alot of fan sites over the years have been forced to close down.
but they can't stop you from writing about them.

check photos permissions from their own sites which you find after search..
when you take them and put their site in future it can be problem for copright..you cant use coprighted images in your page without permission..its illegal and crime..
actually its hard to find images about Harry Potter without copright..but you can ask webmasters which have already site about it..or write email to harry potter offical page and explain your ideas and want images..

well websites can have .jpg, .gif, .pif, and a lot of other formats, well if u take pictures from other sites these pictures might be copywrited so you will not be allowed to use unless u ask for permission. since if they catch u its a crime offence.
