actually the gate had nothing to do with it. Scrutiny of the race frame by frame from different angles indicates to officials there was contact between Brother Derek and Barbaro. At high speed - with the power of a horse - yes that could be enough to cause the breakdown. It was not intentional or malicious...it was a freak accident. There was nothing done to Barbaro illegally. It's not for money - if it were he'd be worth FAR MORE as a Triple Crown winner than the horse who broke down in the Derby that 10 years from now few will remember his name.
Quick - who won the 1996 Derby...another gritty horse with a sense of timing that won by a scant nose.

Grindstone. Most people have forgotten him. Fame is fleeting.

Freak accidents happen - to horses, to people and to other animals.

someone caused the injury, ill tell you that. i was not there so i do not have the right as to say who but ill bet my life that was not a mistake. that was a very talented horse and something as minor as what happened shouldnt have caused an injury that severe.

No, it was a freak accident that had me on edge for weeks. I love race horses. I could go into more detail but I don't know you enough to show my sensitive side.
