What is the problem you are having? I see you are asking if a network card is needed, but I do not know what the problem is that you are trying to fix with a network card. If you give some more details, I might could help you.

Can you explain your problem in detail as your posts are not explaining what your actual issue is. You need a wireless network card to connect to a wireless network for which a wireless router or an access point is the major component. If you are connecting to an ethernet network then you need an ethernet NIC. If you only use a modem and dial up, then you do not need a network card at all.
