Jupiter is the brightest and most prominent planet in the night sky currently. After the sun sets it can be found in the southern sky to the left of the bright star Spica (in Virgo).
Saturn and Mars are in the west right after sunset near the stars of Castor and Pollux (in Gemini).
The above is true for the nothern hemisphere.
www.skyandtelescope.com has a good interactive star chart that will show you what is visible in your sky at any time of the year.

The planet that looks like a star is Venus. You may think it's a star but it isn't. It's really close to Earth. But not too close.

Right now, the planet that is most prevelant at night is Jupiter. You can see it for most of the night this time of year. It's the brightest object in the sky behind the moon of course and Venus, which is only visible in the early morning.

We don't see any planets as stars. Stars twinkle, planets do not. Stars emit light, planets reflect light.
Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and I think Uranus are all visible to the naked eye.

Jupiter is the most obvious planet to find, if it is close to sunrise or sunset, more likely it's Venus. Mars and Saturn can be seen pretty easily too if you know what you are looking for, but the two easiest to pick out are Jupiter and Venus.

Jupiter, Venus is closest to the sun and is in the radii of the sun so we can't see it at night. OR THE MOON
