Cribs should have only one mattress. The mattress should be firm and should fit in the crib snugly. If you can put more than 2 fingers between the mattress and the crib sides, it is too small. Use only form fitting sheets made for cribs.

Just one, make sure you buy one that's the correct side and made for a crib. If you don't there could be spaces between the mattresses and the rails which wouldn't be good. This can cause them to get stuck or hurt.

Only one. Why would you need two! Cribs are supposed to have as little as possible in them, to help avoid smothering the baby. My daughter's crib has a mattress, a SIDS pad (to give her a little room to breathe if she happens to bury her face into the mattress) and a very thight-fitting crib sheet. That's it.

just one. It should be firm & fit the crib perfectly so the baby can not get trapped in between the mattress & the sides of the crib.

just one. You can raise or lower the bottom of the frame to make up the difference that you would have to reach down in the crib.

Just one mattress, but you can buy that memory foam to put on top of it. It's really comfortable for the baby and he/she will sleep better at night.
