living in western Kasnsas has given much practice at killing sand fleas ....mix Dawn dishsoap with water to a relatively sudsy consistency... with a spray bottle spray the entire carpets, cloth furniture etc.....the soap in the water forms a film on the fleas causing them to be unable to breathe. This has been my standard procedure for many years, and tho it may take a couple of applications it is effective, cheap ,and safe for people and pets

I just sprayed my entire house with an insect growth regulator and it's extremely safe to humans and animals. I've found these kinds of sprays to be most effective! The product prevents fleas from reproducing and there's very little chance that they'll develop a resistance to the product over time. What's nice is that even though you might miss certain areas of your carpet, the fleas will eventually move/jump into the area that you've treated and be exposed to the spray - eventually becoming infected.

It's very easy to use because you simply hold the can upside down and move around the room while spraying. Most of the sprays won't damage carpet, clothes, bedding, etc. BUT...you might want to seal your fish tank temporarily to prevent the spray from possibly getting into the water.

Most hardware stores, pet stores and even some larger drug stores carry some type of insect growth regulator that controls fleas. Don't expect immediate results since the fleas have to be exposed to the spray and then it works its way into their bodies. You can control the fleas in your apartment for up to 7 months (or more) by spending less than $10.

Hope this was of some help! GOOD LUCK!

Most of the answers that you have already received are good, but you can use this very inexpensive, organic method as well. Use a shallow dish or pan (The broiler pan from the oven works good) and place it on the floor with water and a little bit of dish soap added. Let place a lamp next to the pan and turn the lamp on at night and have this lamp be the only source of light in the room. The adult fleas will be attracted by the light and will jump into the pan and drown. the soap helps to keep them from being able to jump back out once they are in the water. Then check the water each day and refresh your soap mix. Fleas can do present in three stages of growth; eggs, larvae and adults. So tenacious battle to exterminate them is required. Best of luck.

I agree....move. You need to call your apartment management company and let them know the problem. There is no reason you should have to spend your own personal money on flea bombs. I had the same issue at an apartment I lived in. The fleas were in the carpet....I only have lizards...there's no way the fleas came from any of my animals. I complained and they moved me to another apartment that didn't have carpet. That's the only way you can escape them, without pulling up the carpets and disposing of the carpets.

I had the same problem about 3 days ago. I had to bomb my house 2 times...

I bombed the whole house once, but then I realized the fleas were biting me in my sleep so I bombed JUST my room once more. I am going to bomb it again in a few days just to make sure I kill the eggs.

I also bought this rug spray by raid made specifically to kill fleas. Try it out, it works pretty well.

Hope this helps!

This works really good but it takes a couple of days. Get boric acid and sprinkle it all over your carpets and leave it there for a couple of days. Then vacuum it all up. The boric acid is not toxic and will dry up and kill those little parasites. It will also kill any other bugs there might be in the carpet and it's very inexpensive. Make sure you wash all you bedding and vacuum your furniture really well. Fleas can be hard to get rid of, you have to vacuum everyday until they're gone. Good luck!

You have to bomb more than once. The eggs were probably still in the carpet and it didn't kill them - they hatched now - you have to bomb again. People can bring fleas in too - not just animals. Are you in a "sandy" area? That would be the reason.

Spray the Carpet with flea killer, wait a couple of hours then Clean the Carpet with Color safe Bleach, Vac, and Vac and Vac, Wash everything- they can be hard to get rid of, but keep on killing, you will win. - Some old tricks, set up a large bowl of water, and a bright light, they travel to the light then fall in the water, They don't like Lavender, or Moth Balls- place some in Corners where they roost.

You can use the K9 Advantix spray on inside of apartment, directly on carpet and/or try spreading 7 dust outside of your apartment. This works for me to control fleas on my animals and inside my house.

it might take a little time before all the fleas die........did you wash all your sheets, blankets, etc? if you have carpet, you are going to have to use something more to make sure that all the flea eggs are dead as well.........you will have to use some flea powder, then vacuum and be sure the THROW AWAY the vacuum bag immediately.......good luck!
