In all seriousness... even if I could get past the fact that this is a low scoring, boring game to me, and even if I could get past the fact that a competitive sport could have matches that end in ties *cringe*... I cannot get past the fact that this sport encourages grown men to pretend to fall down and cry like 7 year old girls in order to get a competitive edge. In boxing, taking a dive will get you sanctioned and barred from the sport; in soccer it seems like it's page one in the playbook.

How do you reconcile the fact that this sport you love encourages its players to act like b*tches? Do you consider this baby-acting to be sportsmanlike? Do you actually approve of this tactic?

Seriously, what can you say to defend this practice?

Oh, and if you are so ignorant that all you can do is name-call like some of the first posters, please move along. I'm looking for serious answers from people who think they can defend that faking an injury is a genuine tactic.

Nothing. and i totally agree. But this is a 'tactic' and results shows that it pays off, so they all act up. The only thing they can lose is, well, respect.

You make the statement that our football is fun to play but dreadful to watch on TV. Believe me, i have tried to watch American football and i have been bored to tears. Besides all the stops and starts, it's a 60 minute game that takes 3 or 4 hours to finish. Sometimes the last 2 minutes can last 1/2 an hour. I have no problem with you enjoying your American game but it will never be a world sport like real football.

"One mans food is another mans poison"
These athletes are running and tackling, alot of collision happens and what YOU see from the comfort of your TV screen is not even close to the rush that takes place inside the field. If you don't like it , fine, don't watch it.....BETTER, one less whining baby!!!!These guys wear shinguards at most.....unlike 300 LBS fat men who are fully covered from head to toe (hockey) or ,,,,the guys who can hardly shove their heavybodies to first base, let alone run, and it takes foreverrrrr to reach home (baseball).

You forget one major difference between MY question and Your question: if one LOVES a sport, one makes constructive criticism to IMPROVE the game, exchange views and share ideas........not to call names as you have done in your question by calling Pro-athletes all kinds of names....these are guys dedicating their lives to this sport! yeah so sometimes referees make mistakes and players capitalize on it...that doesn't mean that ALL players are like that.
if you want to make further exchanges, pls do so via email instead of posting, since others may not be interested in your answers to my questions.

Just because its something you cant claim to have had a hand in creating, you have to spit your 'Pacifier' out.

IT IS CALLED FOOTBALL NUMBNUTS. Soccer is what people who dont understand the game call it.
