All of the resort hotels are on the strip. 90% you can walk to. Their is also a metro (train) that connects most of then if you don't want to walk that far.

I'm a local and I say take a taxi anywhere except Treasure Island (it's across the street) and from there you can take a free tram to and from Mirage. Also try Harrah's it's next door.
If you don't mind walking and the ridiculous heat you can try making it all the way to Wynn.
It all depends on how far you're willing to walk like some of the other people said you can get to almost any casino walking just walk inside each one and you'll always be in the comfort of ice cold AC.

You can pretty much walk to all the hotels on the strip, just get some good walking shoes and be prepared to be tierd at the end of the day (bring water). The one thing worth taking a cab is to go to downtown and do the freedmont street experience at night it's lots of fun.. hope you have a good time!

Any place on the strip is pretty much walking distance. I would suggest walking to one end and then all that way to the other end. That's a lot of walking. I would suggest going one direction one day and then other direction the next day. That way you get to experience each hotel. You can also go to vegas.com and get a map of the hotels on the strip.

None - You need to take a taxi to even the closest hotels because it is so hot there.

Lots! MGM, New York, New york etc. However, you can get an all day bus pass for 5 dollars and ride up and down the strip. The buses are NEW, fully air conditioned and it helps beat the heat!
