I always tell everybody I hire in our company to treat their customers like they would want to be treated. I say " your smile may be the only smile they have seen today." This keeps our customers coming back and also is great advertisement because the customer will tell other people to go there because they were treated so good. When one of our stores start going down in business we know exactly where to look for the reason. It is always because one of the employees is not a great customer service rep. We have been in business since 1996 with 12 locations and this has always been the case when we start digging. A customer rep can make you grow or they can ruin your business. It doesn't matter if the customers ever meet the owner or what kind of prices you have. The proof is in the customer service reps you employ.

Thanks for letting me stress my point.

The thing that makes me immediately leave a business, even in the middle of a transaction, is when the phone rings and I am now second best.

Why would anyone think that a paying customer, right in front of them, is less important than somebody who calls fishing for information and is probably not going to patronize your business anyway. Don't belittle your faithful customers and a new customer will become faithful if you give them the attention they deserve.

Thanks for letting me vent.

I like a simple "hello" when I walk in the door, not a ten minute long speel about what's on sale etc.. Also, someone there to answer any questions I may have.

The most important to me are two things together. They are: a) a sincere or appearing to be sincere SMILE; and b) price competitiveness.
