As more and more offices are imposing a no smoking policy within their buildings. Is it socially acceptable to throw / drop items of stationary (for instance, a stapler from a 2nd floor window for the sake of arguement) onto the heads of those forced outdoors? There seems to be a heated discusion going on in our office at the moment about this very subject. Should health warnings appear on the packs about these new perils?

A stapler is only likely to inflict minor injury, or worse yet, intense annoyance. Since the huddle at the door are committing slow suicide, you might want to speed things along with full grown office equipment, like the laser copier or bosses leather power chair. To aid accuracy, drop a small item and mark where it lands by gluing a coin to the paving. That way you'll hit the back of the head every time, the ideal kill zone to ensure you slaughter the smoker

I think it is only acceptable if those smokers are causing a horrible cloud of smoke at the entrance, thus making non-smokers breathe in smoke on their way in and out. People realise that smokers will go outside to smoke to satisfy their addiction, but if they are not forcing others to breathe in their poisonous fumes they should be left alone. If they are doing it by the door then they deserve something heavier dropped on them than a stapler.

Eggs, flour, the food thats gone of in the fridge are all good. If you need to use a stapler suggest you open it out first - That way the impact may also imbed a staple.

The Banning of Smoking is a very sensitive issue. I would like to out law smoking but I am biased.

if you feel that pissed off about it why don't you complain? Or are you scared of being unpopular? Thry are outside smoking and the rest of you are all sat discussing throwing things out of windows so it sounds like you are on a break too!!!! I'd just get over it!

Wow, now that is really nasty. I know we smokers are considered second class citizens but please...throwing things out the office windows? Just plain mean.

Perhaps something a little heavier ... the photocopier or your pc maybe?? Ha ha

(It's always bothered me that those pesky smokers get more time off than me with all their smoking breaks, leaving me to answer all their calls!)

a staperler would be a no. but lighter items would be fine.
as long as those who dont smoke dont mind having the stuff thrown back at them when the smoker returns indoors.

No.But spitting and emptying the bed pans onto their heads should continue to be a legal past time.

hmmmm, a stapler seems a bit excessive but i dont see the harm in firing rubber bands or throwing rubbers.
