Those buttons work much like the traffic sensors that control the lights. When you push the button multiple times, it tells the elevator that there are multiple people waiting for the elevator as opposed to just one. This will allow it to return to that floor and pass the other floors without stopping on the way down. If you push it once and each floor above you pushes it once, it will stop on every floor. However, if you push it many times, it will come to your floor without stopping at the others.

Those incompetent people think that by pressing the button 50 billion times, they get to their destination faster, when actually, it does nothing.

Stress and anxiety. This is normal in people who work in an office building where they have gone on a coffee break or out to lunch and over stayed their breaks.

Obviously they do not get out much!!!! People like that usually tend to treat the world like their trash can and the rest of it as their toy. Lack of good home training!

Yes, many times i think it has alot to do with impatience and wanting to be somewhere before everyone else......and quite honestly doesnt make these people, look any better they just seem to look like wankers.
