Pearl Harbor was a surprise attack by a belligerent nation which, at the time the attack took place, believed that its diplomats had already issued a declaration of war. Delay in deciphering, then typing the text of the communique resulted in the attack taking place before the declaration was actually delivered.

This is to be distinguished from a "terrorist" attack which typically is not by or on behalf of a nation, but rather a group of individuals.

This question makes no sense

Is not 1- 1 too many? How many others (like recently in FL) have been stopped. How many times has it been on a property owned by the US like an embassy or the USS Cole. I don't care how if you are going to break down attacks by a wartime act or an act commited by a citizen.

Also, how could Pearl Harbor be a wartime act if it was the event that drew us into the war. We weren't involved in the war till after this occured.

Does Oklahoma City count? WTC 93'? WTC 911? Atlanta Olympics? The DC shooters? I think someone better learn a little American history before posting uneducated questions.

BTW moron - the embassies and consulates around the globe are considered American soil. You must have been taught by an liberal teacher.

What about Pearl Harbor? The Japanese attacked the USA before we declared war on them. Last time I checked, Hawaii was part of the USA in 1941. That was a foreign attack. You better go back to high school or dust off your history book and READ IT THIS TIME.

Just so we don't forget:

CIA shooting suspect held without bond -- June 18, 1997
Web posted at: 11:50 a.m. EDT (1550 GMT)

FAIRFAX, Virginia (CNN) -- The man suspected of killing two people and injuring three others in a 1993 shooting spree outside CIA headquarters was ordered held without bond Wednesday morning.

Prosecutors consider Mir Aimal Kansi a risk to flee. He was returned to the United States from Pakistan Tuesday after a multi-national manhunt.

At a hearing Wednesday, Kansi did not enter a plea on the charges facing him, which include two counts of murder for the January 25, 1993, shooting.

The government alleges that Kansi is the man who opened fire at people waiting in their cars to turn into the CIA's Langley, Virginia, parking lot. Kansi left the United States the day after the crime.

Let's not be any more delusional than necessary. Politics is about power, if the democrats were in power during 9/11 don't you think they would be running around trying to prop up their power base by doing everything the republicans are doing? Maybe not in the same manner but they'd be spouting programs and actions from the hill tops as well. So maybe the sky isn't falling today but ALL politicians don't want it to when they are in power.

Then leave, if you are here. Its too bad a coward like yourself, who wouldnt face a threat anyway - is attempting to denounce our safety, in the name of delusional liberalism. Was your father a pusssy and handed it down or did you learn it in life? I only ask because I am an avid mature/nurture fan. BTW - attacks on WTC 93, our military and consulates are considered American soil, but what does a 2nd or 3rd generation coward know about military?

Aother useless little **** , with zero knowledge of history attempting to make a point.

Where the hell have you been? What hole do you live in? The world-trade center has been attacked 2 or 3 times. There have been many other attacks on buildings in the US or to US assets aboard. Do you not know history or are you just stupid?

Then by all means, please don't live in fear. However, for those of us with logical minds and reasonable thoughts, please allow us to continue to protect ourselves against the real threats that are out there.

It's not just the conservatives that believe in terrorists. The NY Times cried and whined when their terrorism budget was cut. Why would they do that if they didn't think the threat was real? Why would they care at all?
