if you already have a account with a wireless-phone company and need a new phone ,can you just buy a phone ?

Yes you can, but you may not qualify for the prices they advertise at. If you are near the end of your contract they will usually give you the discount on the condition that you extend your contract for a couple of years.

If they are not willing to give you the discount or you do not want to re-up with them go the Ebay route. Otherwise you could be dropping $100 or more.

I guess the cell phone companies I've used charge for a new phone if you're still in a contract. If you're contract has expired, they'll usually offer deals with either a free phone or a discounted one.

Yes but you'll have to sign a new contract unless u want to pay triple the price of the phone.Just call customer service or go to http://www.cingular.com and pick the phone that u want & follow the steps to buy it.

yes you can.
your account information is stored in the sim card . that s da small plastic care thats usually under the battery. you can take it off and put it to any other phone ,and that phone will act like your phone number. ie that phone will ring when you dial your number. simple as that.
