Anglo-Saxon or German descent, Its the same thing isnt it or is ot? Just a thought as i hear the 'Anglo-saxon' term a lot as what is our lovely Britain is. But then the Angles and Saxons came from Schleswig in Germany around 13th Century. Thats after the Vikings and the Normans and so lmuch after the Iceni and Trinovantes tribes of Boudicca. Surely we should be associating ourselves as descendents of these people instead? Just a thought!

As someone above said - we are mongrel races in the UK. Hard to know how much anyone is as a percentage of Angle/Saxon/Celt/Roman/Vikings etc. So although we regard most of England as being of Anglo/Saxon/Jute etc., we can't really know if all the Celtic peoples were actually pushed westwards, maybe everyone in England has Celtic blood because of the interbreeding between them. I am Scottish, but tend to regard myself as being of Celtic ancestry even though I know Angles settled in eastern central Scotland. I guess no-one in Britain can really regard themselves as being purely Anglo-Saxon in the Germanic sense, as English is such as hodge-podge of Latin and Germanic words.

The British people are a real mixture of races, from the interbreeding of the original tribes with the many conquerors down the ages, from the Romans, French, Angles, Saxons, Goths, Visigoths, Huns and Vikings to name a few.
