Right and wrong.
A sane person has the ability to distinguish between the two and take appropriate action. They are usually the ones that go to extremes to hide bad behavior from others. I have always believed that anyone that does anything they have to lie about or hide in order not to get in trouble are sane and know right from wrong.
On the other hand, truly insane people will not try to hide their behavior. They will seek recognition for the acts they do. Isn't it funny that the ones that have the ability to control themselves are the ones that are less honest and the ones that cannot control their behavior are more so?
I also believe that insanity is different from any psychosis. You can have a chemical imbalance and not be insane. But usually people diagnosed insane have some sort of chemical imbalance, if not more than one.

Sometimes not much =) Also depends on what you mean by insane- Legally it's being incapable of understanding the court process or what you did is wrong, but otherwise the difference between sane and insane comes down to degrees (I'm probably putting that wrong) For example, everyone feels a little paranoid or sad or hyper sometimes but if something like this starts to become all that you are (ie. starting to think that people are after you all the time, or your too depressed to get out of bed, or are manic) then you are possibly mentally ill or insane. Personally I like the legal definition better- because I've met people who are mentally ill but are aware of right and wrong and can control themselves. The truly insane have no control, nor do they know things are wrong.

I used to want to be like everyone else until I realized how much better off I really am than they are for remaining sane. These people ("sane") aren't really retarded, they're stark-raving mad. It just so happens that definitions of comparative terms (ie "sane" vs. "insane") are controlled by the majority, therefore, if the truly insane outnumbered the truly sane, then the tables would turn and the "sane" would be locked up......this is what I believe has happened in the world today.....it's the only logical answer.

I would think there level of connection with reality and their understanding of consequences. A sane person can have a much more accurate understanding if I do A then B happens. If an Insane person does A they may think they know what will happen but most times it does not fit a normal reality.

A sane person is in touch with reality and is aware of their surrounding and what is going on. An insane person has "unworldly" beliefs, cannot make educated decisions due to delusions, etc. The difference can be a chemical imbalance in the brain, a stress disorder caused by a traumatic experience, it can really be many things...

There is none. There is not one sane person in the world for everyone is insane in their own quirky way.

If you mean really insane, like mentally, then its just disorders and diseases that make the difference.

In law, an insane person is one who doesn't know the difference between right and wrong, or doesn't understand that actions have consequences.

In business, an insane person is one who keeps doing the same thing over and over while hoping for different results. (Also known as a money-waster.)

Sane- normal everyday activity and routine. Work, sleep, family, friends. Can work out issues without losing control.

Insane- unnormal, unpredictable and doesn't care who gets hurt, as long as it is not themselves. Like people that kill, just to see how it would feel to do it, and to watch the victims expressions and pleas for their life and the life of their loved ones.
