Its sometimes for stress relief, sometimes cuz we're bored, but mostly because it feels good and its less hassle than trying to find someone to have sex with.
Im paraphrasing this Robert Heinlein quote because I cant find my copy of "Time Enough For Love":
"Masturbation is cheap, easy to do, free of the worry of disease and you dont have to walk home in the cold afterward. But its LONELY."

People do it not only to just pleasure themselves, but a lot of people do it while with a partner. If you are into that sort of thing couples like to see what kinds of things turn each other on. Its a way to get the mood flowing. Everyone should try it atleast once. Though it may not be for everyone.

Because it feels great. You also get to know your body and it is wonderful. Once you start having sex you can tell your partner exactly what you like to make you ***. It's wonderful!!!! Have fun, Its absolutely normal.
Toys are also fun to use with or without a partner.

Because they are lonely, and they don't have a guy or girl to give them pleasure, therfore they result themselves to "masturbation" to give themselves "pleasure".

I think because it gives them great pleasure. Sometimes they think about past relationships or imagine what a fanticy encounter would be like.
