You want to use conditional formatting. From the menu bar select Format then from the resulting menu select Conditional Formating. You select the conditions for when you want the color to change. You can set more than one condition. Use the Format button to format the cell or range of cells to whatever color or font you would like them when that condition is met.

One thing to note, Excel will keep the conditional formating for that range of cells in place even if you manually try to color the cell. Unless you remove the conditional formatting, it will keep the conditional formating in place. To remove the conditional formating, select the cell or cells that you want to remove the conditional formating from and go to Conditional Formating again. Click delete, then check the conditions that you want to delete. Click OK to get out of the first window, then click OK again to get out of the second window.

Not a position, elementary forumula to calculate 2 cells. Just suppose how could you do it for your head, or on a calculator, take one clear of the opposite. In this situation =d18-f18.

You'll want to use "conditional formatting", not IF statements.

Click Format - Conditional Formatting.
