I'm a recent entry to the pro wrestling fan world. I just started to get into it right before they changed their name to WWE. I was aware of it as I was growing up (1980s-90s) but never into it. For those of you that have been a fan all along I'd love to get some opinions here. Would you say it was better or much better during the 80s-90s, as good today as it was then, is it better today or getting better, or neither better or worse- just different, and why do you think so? Thanks!

I was a fan of WCW and WWF for years and I don't watch anymore b/c of the changes. I don't like that they merged (thanks to the McMahon's purchase) and I prefer the segregation. I still catch a fight here and there but as you'll find out, its like soaps and you miss A LOT. If I had my way I'd erase the last few years and keep watching.

Its different and the same. I started in early 80's and back then it was a circus show with one being way better then the other and you always knew who would win.

Early 90's things changed where it wasn't the winner against the loser but the good guy against the bad guy. Now the matches were closer and it was not for sure who would win.

today the match ups are full of talent where as in the eighties only the last match of the night was any good, called The Main Event.

There is way more talent and the guys are way more atheletic now. The hot divas improved it so it is enjoyable for men and women.

I liked eighties and 90's wrestling but it is improving and thats why it has such huge success now.

the WWE has gotten worse, the story lines r getting way too predictable and the same old boring matches r held, it was a lot better in the late 90s with the old DX and Stone Cold Steve Austin givin Vince McMahon the stunner every week on Raw, now those were the days.

I think it was better back in the day, now it seems like a wrestling soap opera. And the name change came because of a law suit over the name WWF

I believe the World Wildlife Federation had dibs on WWF.
That's why McMahon had to change it to WWE.
