I read only the first two books, but the ending of "The Sorcerer's Stone" had me until the last page.

I am in favor of anything that gets kids excited enough to read. We haven't seen anything like the Harry Potter phenomena in many years. The best part is that it seemed to turn into a family affair and created a lot of dialog between children, parents, and teachers. I never saw anything like it. I love the way the whole thing came about, too. An ordinary woman with a huge imagination...and look what happened. It is so encouraging. Hurray for Harry Potter!

The books are great! The first four were a little short, but hey, nobody's perfect. Its a little simpler than what I usually read, but then again they're supposed to be children's books. The movies though, range from ok to bad. The first two are good, a little farther from the books than I'd like, but thats just Hollywood. The third one though, is horrible! They left out one of the most important plot points to add in scenic shots!!! I mean, come on!! The trailers had more plot! The fourth movie was ok, a little dramatized, but again, thats Hollywood for you. If you were meaning how some people are thinking that its teaching children witchcraft, thats rubbish. It no more does that then say, Chronicles of Narnia. I mean, its just a fantasty story. Some people can't handle that type of entertainment though, and try to take it farther. The only reason this is even an issue is because its been so mainstreamed. My personal opinon though, is that J.K. Rowling is a good author, and that they still haven't found the right director for the movies. Good acting though, even if Emma's hair isn't right.

Harry Potter books got a whole lot of middle school kids to read on their own initiative rather than as an assignment. Harry Potter books emphasize the value of friendships. So what if they go to wizard school. Witchcraft in these books is treated like another species of people rather than some evil force. We need more stuff like it.

very childish, good books though, i read one and then I can't stop thinking about the plot for like two weeks (I am a geek, i know).
There was a question on here a couple weeks ago:
who in Harry Potter is not a virgin?
Good question. Only the ppl who've had kids I guess.
They're the kind of books i will not say i like, but i do.

I love the Harry Potter series. It is a very unique, cleverly written story. I have read the last two books straight through because I just couldn't put the books down. I plan on using the books to encourage my children to read more and explore the power of imagination.

JK Rowling without doubt one of the best authors out there. Her continuity is unquestionable. The books are suberp. They age with their readers and are solid good reads.
I have been so disappointed in the movies. The first and second held fairly close, but the last left so much out I worry the the next will not be able to cover the blatant errors. I know it would be impossible to have all the info there but come on...how do you justify leaving entire characters out, when every one is important to the story.
Flat out ...only movie I ever saw which bet the books were the Lord of the Rings movies.

I LOVE the books!!!! I could read them a million times. I like the first 3 movies but then the 4th one messes you up yes its a good movie but they messed up on cedric's death. he's just suppose to fall flat to the ground!! Not go flying backwards into the air! I think they confused that with the sixth book and Dumbldore's death when Dumbldore goes lying backwards. I CANT B"LIVE THEY WOULD MAKE A MISTAKE LIKE THAT! I mean you would think they would read the books more throughly so they get everything right!!! I STILL LOVE the series and all that though

if you mean what do i think about witchcraft then this is my answer. I've studied witchcraft for a few years and i am currently a wizard. if you are skeptical then i.m. me at draco12@sbcglobal.net. if you mean what do i think of the books and movies then this is my answer. they are good books but i do not like what they have done. Rowling has raised question about witchcraft and many young people who have no understanding of the practice are getting spells off of the Internet and utterly ruining their lives. witchcraft is an art. it takes many years of practice. i do not think that she knew what she was doing when she published the books i think she was just a brilliant author fascinated by the unknown. hope that helped.
