Use blue aloe gel on your back. Ususally the blue ones have benzocaine or lidocaine in them to help numb the pain, plus you get the benefit of aloe. I don't know what SPF you used. If you're pale, you should still use a sunscreen but maybe try one with a lower SPF. You can still tan with like an SPF 8 on. Good luck.

What strength SPF were you using and how long were you out? Depending on how easily you burn, you need to choose your level of protection. Also, if you are on the water, you are even more prone to burn because of the water's reflection. Right now, you should stay out of the sun until your burn gets better...try putting aloe on it to relieve the pain. You sound like you are outdoors a lot, so when you are ready for more sun, I would recommend a waterproof sports sunblock, like Coppertone Sport, at least SPF 30. Whichever brand you choose, make sure it blocks BOTH UVA and UVB rays. And don't forget to REAPPLY every few hours....one application does NOT last the whole day, and you can still burn in the late afternoon or when the sky is overcast. You want to brown slowly, gradually, because every serious burn you get increases your risk of skin cancer. P.S. I am usually extremely pale and burn easily...I just got back from Hawaii with the BEST TAN of my life by using SPF 45 and then GRADUALLY SPF 30 on my torso and face and SPF 15 on my legs...so don't listen to those who say you should use baby oil or no sunblock....sunblock can save your life, save you the pain of a burn and the GROSS peeling, and your skin will look much healthier!! Bottom line, listen to your body...you can tell when you are starting to "crisp"...and find the right SPF combo for you. But better to start too high than too low. Have a great summer!!

Always use sunblock! Especially if you are naturally pale. You will burn easily. Next time have someone help you get it on your back. You can choose the level of spf protection. The lower the spf number the less protection from the sun. You will still tan eventually but not burn.

Slices of cucumber will help...also honey...
Make sure you put some sunblock before you go in the sun.
You should go and get about 6-10 sessions in a gym..indoor tanning...Thats a good way to build a base.
I love being tanned too, but its not considered fashionable today with the sun cancer scare and the hotter sun...

Wear sunblock that is low in SPF's while you are real white. You are gonna burn at first, but when you start getting tan, use suntan lotion. Obviously you still get tan (burned) with sunblock.

They recommend to always use sunscreen. They need to block both type of rays. The UV and the UB rays. I use Water Babies 50 SPF and I don't burn and I still tan with it. We have a pool and I do reapply every couple of hours though. If I don't I will burn. But like I said to keep your skin protected and still get a tan use sunscreen.

tanning is actually bad for your skin - u get skin cancer from that! I don't understand why people in the west are so obessed about tanning.. i know it looks "healthy" but its just not healthy for your skin, lying under the sun for hours like that (even if u were using sunblock)

you shouldn't sun tan at all, if you burn with sunscreen you must have sensitive pale skin, instead use self tanners, its a cream or mousse that you rub on and after a few hours it looks as natural as a real tan, without the health hazards and the pain.

Use a tanning oil with SPF in it. Now that you're burned, use some aloe, and it will turn the burn into a tan.

Stay out of the sun, it's bad for you. Get a spray tan instead. You'll be tanned instantly and no harm done to your skin.

You can use that sun tan lotion but what can also help you tan is creamy baby oil. That also helps I use that all the time. But I am also naturally tan too from my dad..my dad is part indian.
