I know of a guy who took a '77 Aspen wagon, cleaned it up, dropped a 360 crate motor in it, changed the 8.25" rearend to an 8.75", etc., but used it as a stealth street racer.

If your wagon is primarily a daily driver, I'd say pass on "pimping" it. If it's been reliable then keep the routine maintenance up so it stays that way. Nothing wrong with keeping an older vehicle if it's been dependable. If it needs a new paint job or some cosmetics, take the opportunity to do some of the work yourself. But don't go nuts dropping a ton of $$ into it.
You'd probably do better with some customization on the F-150. You're more likely to find more components & options for doing that than with the Plymouth. This coming from a Mopar guy! ;-)

I think that the real issue with street rods these days is that they are becoming all the same. There are very few individual/ one of a kinds left. Back in the eighties, it was muscle cars from the '70 and '60s. Now its Toyotas, Nissans, Hondas, etc. They all look the same. Now a tricked out station wagon would be cool because you don't see them as often, if at all. I say customize it, be original, be proud.

Complete waste of money! You won't get it back on future resale and the vehicle is now old technology. The name of the game in the near future is simply to have mobility when fuel prices double again. I would not mess with the F150 either. Cool truck but... (Just sold my F250 4x4 with 460 engine and feel lucky). I would recommend that you combine resources and invest in a super fuel efficient hybrid if possible. Look at WWW.HOMEPOWER.COM and down load a free spread sheet to analyze your situation. Wouldn't it be better to be able to move around than have a parked "cool" vehicle?

Any car can be pimped out, including that Plymouth wagon you have. I suggest you decide how you want to have it done, but be mindful of the costs involved in it as well. I wish you luck in this endeavor.

Why not. the first time I got laid was in my "74 Oldsmobile custom cruiser station wagon". Of course that was twenty four years ago, and kids these days are far more shallow and vein, but you do what you wish...happy pimping

An '88 Plymouth wagon...you're kidding right!
Why would you waste your money on that old piece of metal...they weren't even nice looking then and they haven't got any prettier!
If you've got money to throw away at least throw it onto something worthy of the expense.
My answer........yes...it's a total waste of cash!

TRUST ME!!!! get rid of that family ride..unless your getting laid in the back but the chance of that in a car like that are slim to none.this my brother is what you do...............
sell that bad boy.think about it.your NOT likely to find all the customizing and or parts for that old of a ride.i have an 84 chevy thats worth customizing...you can go two ways..euro or muscle.
euro ususally cost more since they are not domestic.muscle cars..well they always look good.and are easy to work on.so decide, just shop around, take your time finding the right first ride you want to pimp out.

I say go for it, that's your vehicle, do what makes you comfortable. I have an 85 Cabellero, (same as an El Camino, but better :) and people sometimes ask why I invest money in a older car and my reply is that what I invest in my car raises the value of my car and I have no regrets. Your vehicle is an extension of your personality, so go for it, I'm gonna, and keep those receipts for when you sell.

Don't waste your money on a grocery getting station wagon are you crazy? Just spend the extra money that you accumulate on your ford whenever you get it.
