small, sometimes raised white patches of skin are called sunspots and occur due to a buildup of naturally occurring yeast on your skin...by going to a dermatologist they can be cured by taking 4 pills..your best bet is to go to the doctor! NEVER guess when it comes to your health!

is it darker or lighter?

Some times melinin can build up in the skin and cause darker splotches, its caused by hormones and genes. Sometimes it can be precancerous, but not always.

lighter marks can be caused by chemical burns, genetics, disease and cancer.

I have darker splotches on my boobs, but it runs in my family, its a genetic thing. It doesnt show when iam tan, which is nice.

If she's concerned about it have it checked out. Or better yet, ask her family members about it, it might be something that runs in the women in the family.

Sounds like maybe it is vitiligo. What Michael Jackson claims to have. It causes discoloration of the skin and it is like patches. Have her ask about that.

stay in the house...that's what i do and i got my skin color back...also when you get out of the shower, and the steam is still in the bathroom, lotion down with cocoa butter and it will clean out pores and remove dirt (your pores are open when steam is in the bathroom...make sure you close the door before getting in the shower). if you do this everyday your skin will get lighter to your natural color but will not get any lighter. also if you do this, your skin will get softer and smoother as the days go on.

This is more evident in dark colored skins. If they are slightly rougher, lighter patches they can be fungus or lack of vitamins. Tell her to go to the dermatoligist to have it looked at.

Patches, or rashes, are difficult to diagnose, unless you go to a doctor and he examines it. There could be numerous reasons why it is there, and she should go get to checked just to be sure.
