I'm planning a round-the-world trip, and I'd like to do it solo. Do you think it will be safe for me as a woman traveler on my own?

You'll be fine. Any country and city has its unpleasant areas. Stay away from those and you will have the time of your life. On our trip around the world we met many single men and women who were doing it on their own and loved it ...

Well that depends upon where you plan to go. There are many places that are perfectly safe and many others that you should stay away from. You need to check with the US Department of State about country warnings and also with the Center for Disease Control about health warnings.

When you travel, do not call attention to yourself by wearing flashy clothing or jewelry. Try to blend in so that you don't appear to be a tourist, like don't carry a camera bag or cameras hanging off your shoulder. Don't wear a US flag on anything. ACt like you are with a group as opposed to alone; sometimes you can get in conversation with couples traveling and join them for things.

Just did it! Had a blast!

The trick is, is to do your homework about each location first.

Do most of your sight seeing by day, rest, read and enjoy very pubic things at night.

There is only a handful of countries, I wouldn't suggest going to... if you watch the news you know where they are.

Go for it!! What we see on TV isn't that accurate and rumors are even worse. I was treated very well everyplace I went to. The State dept. page makes a good guide line, but don't let it dictate your travels.

It's a wonderful world out there, go and enjoy it!

If you keep your eyes and ears open, and don't take unnecessary risks, it will be as safe as travelling around any big metropolis in any country.Gallantry and Chivalry still exist in the world, and there will be many people to protect you should you need help. Good luck, and have a great time.

Yes, just be cautious. I wouldn't go to Afganistan, for example, and I wouldn't go out late at night in a city I was unfamiliar with or where I didn't speak the language, but most places are pretty safe for women travellers.

Have fun!
