well, that depends..but if it is more free-flowing,i.e. less back pressure compared to the original ones it may yield a little increase in power, however, it may also yield the opposite if there is too little back pressure,

this is because the engineers that design the engine have set the valve timing, both lift and phrase, to match the original amount of back pressure of the exhaust system, if it is changed, the balanced is lost, and a negative result may be a result.

in order to take full advantage of the new more free-flowing exhaust, the valve timing have to be tinkered with, usually the phrasing of both the intake and exhaust, and this can be done by installing an adjusable cam gear, or if you have V-TEC or similiar, some adjustment to the system would be good enough...

i guess it all depends on what kind of tuning route you want to take...go to http://www.tuninglinx.com/ and read all the articles...it'll do wonders..

Most people replace their headers to increase the flow of exhaust out of the engine, which will slightly increase H.P. If you want a louder sound, that will have to be don with a muffler package.

Headers have less restriction for air flow, thus making your exauhst flow better. Which in turn makes more horsepower. The only disadvantage of headers is replacing the gasket quite frequently. I have them on my race/street car.

its actually a combo of all three, a push in HP(horse power),a little help with gas mileage,i said a little...and gives your engine a little bit of a roar, if done with an exhaust set up it will hum pretty nice. i actually ahve set of header going on my chevy(84) and have the exhaust set up on it already..anyways good luck.
