I had a virus and a corrupted mbr, someone reconfigured the C:/ drive and forgot to take some pictures that i requested off of it. Is there any hi-tech program that can locate these files?

If you're looking for a program that will seek out and organize pictures on your hard drive, try Picasa from Google. It's a very easy to use program with a great interface. It will search your hard drive for any and all picture files and then show them to you in the main screen window. It's downloadable from the link below. (It's only released for Windows 2000 and XP right now, though)

If the computer was "reloaded", the OS (or application) was reloaded and all other files stay in tact. However, if the computer was "reimaged", then the files are gone. Reimage is where the hard drive is wiped out and replaced with a designated set of software.

Norton system works, but has to be installed - may install over pictures. google "knoppix" - free Linux software that runs off of CD works great for retrieving files.
