Are you insecure about yourself, or just certain features, body parts? I have met some girls who no matter what one says they are hard headed. Example, when a guy tells his girl she is beautiful, and the girl keeps saying, no i'm not, i'm ugly, i'm fat or whatever. Why are some girls like that?

all females have insecurities. most are females that aren't picture perfect. when my boyfriend tells me i'm beautiful it makes me mad. he knows it bugs me b/c i don't think i am, but he always tell me you are to me. i would like to change thing about me before i would even think of my self as beautiful. but others say i'm stupid. but all that matters really is how the female feels about her self. Is she comfortable in her own skin? most aren't, everyone has something they would like to change (some more than others) mags, tv, and movies all pretty much say women should be skinny, perfect looks, hair, make-up, and style. it's how the world views us.

I think all women have an inner perfectionist. We know that women were made to be beautiful, gazed upon and admired. So if we have ever heard a disparaging remark regarding our appearance, we take it to heart, and we simply do not forget it. Then the brutally truthful mirror just confirms what we have heard. That we can never be beautiful enough, and that we have a long way to go. I think part of the problem is, if someone insults someone else, its usually very specific and direct, but compliments tend to be vague or non-specific. Girls will think "What exactly makes me "beautiful"?" And if you don't have a good answer for that, the entire compliment is disregarded as empty flattery. If we could learn to accept compliments gracefully, it would definitely be a step in the right direction. Being comfortable with ourselves takes effort. But one day, hopefully, when a loved one says "you look beautiful today," we will be able to smile and simply answer with a "thank you."

Honestly what would you think if a girl said Yeah I know I look good! That she's conceited or high maintenance. Girls tend to be more critical of themselves, a lot more than men. Why? Because everyone expects so much from them. More than men. Men don't wear makeup or have to do their nails, they just need to wear something clean and they're good to go. But what do you say when I girl walks around with no makeup, nails not done, hair just combed or up in a pony tail. You might not think she's ugly but you won't give her any attention, and you'll think she doesn't take care of herself or she let herself go. Men complain that girls are high maintenance but they don't like plain jane's either.

HA! I say, Thank you! Sometimes, depending if I feel like $hit, I will say something smart a$$, but why knock it if someone is giving you a compliment, no matter how crappy you feel? I think bitches like that are just pessimists and want more attention and compliments...it is an underhanded way of fishing for more because "Hey, you look nice" isn't enough for them. Or, they have really terrible self esteem and don't know HOW to accept a compliment. I stop saying nice things to people like that, no matter how good they may look.

I have huge hips...but my husband thinks I have sexy hips. I absolutely hate them, but can't help sometimes to be proud of them because I fill out a pair of jeans rather nicely. Girls are like that because they are girls....why do guys think that they look great, when they are really ugly? For example, how can a really ugly guy approach an attractive girl and think that he has a chance???? It's just one of those things.

it's so sad that girls do this, i've been there and was like that myself.

the fact is in this society girls are bombarded with image of the extremely beautiful in magazines, t.v., movies, bilboards, etc.

and b/c of this many of the girls who say, 'i'm ugly' really think that they are.

the best way to help a woman thru this is to pick specific features on her and tell her exactly WHY it's beautiful
this way she knows for sure you really DO think she's pretty, and your not just blowing empty compliments up her bum.

it's really up to the girl herself to love herself, but that 's how you can help her get to that point.

p.s. while it is always nice to hear that men think our eyes are beautiful, it's not the first and only feature we want you to admire, sometimes we think you only talk about our eyes b/c you think the rest of us is fat or ugly.

my husband compliment my butt, or my chest, or my "flat tummy"--- THEN he talks about my eyes.

on a first date leave out the chest and butt compliments, but you get the idea, tell her you like the way ALL of her looks.

All girls are insecure about themselves .... it depends how big their insecurity is but they usually don't believe a guy when he compliment her ..... or some when they hear a girl compliment them don't wanna sound big-headed if they believe what the guy's saying so they just answer the opposite of what you have complimented

Because they want to hear they are beautiful over and over again... its a security thing.... if a man tells you that you are beautiful all the time then why would he ever leave you. Plus some girls to need reassurance that others think she is attractive just the way she is.

i don't know but with my last boy friend he would tell me i'm beautiful and i would always say thankyou your sweet,
then he would come around and say to me why am i datting this beautiful girl when i'm ugly.let's face it if people think there ugly then they got problems. cause in my eyes no one is ugly!
