That is why we need a smaller government. Politicians have never seen a tax they didn't like, and they never will.
It's not just what you notice right off of the top. Sure, there's payroll taxes and then sales tax, but if you add up all of the hidden taxes, you're lucky to spend 10 cents on the dollar. Think I'm exaggerating? Think about it:
Every gallon of gasoline you buy is taxed at an outrageous amount (close to $1/gallon these days). Every good that is delivered to a store by a truck has to have that tax figured into its cost. The company pays taxes on their employees - that is figured into the final cost of a product. Every tax that a company pays is figured into the final price.
In order for that company to retain quality personnel, they must pay a wage that is high enough (including taxes). This higher salary that is required is figured into the cost of that product.
Do you see where this is going? Each item is taxed a hundred times before it gets to your shopping cart. Sure, each tax is a very small percentage of the cost, but it all adds up to more money in the government's pockets.

It is the greed of liberalism infecting all those within all governments. That feeling that they are superior to all the rest of us and know better than we do how to spend our money. They also buy votes and support using our money. Some, like KKKByrd of WV, use it to aggrandize his own ego, by erecting buildings and monuments with our $$ and putting his name on them. Typical leftist Klansman that.
Government has become greedy, because they're trying to do too much for too many. They aren't intelligent enough to understand the limitations of government.
So, like the parasites they are, they are robbing us of our lifeblood. Damnthemalltohell.

Politicians want new golf clubs, so they need to find a way to "steal" the money legally without getting into trouble.

because liberals don't believe in personal responsibility and self-sufficiency. Liberals believe that the gov't should be the central planner and provider of the people, and that hard-working people who succeed in life should be punished and their earnings forceably taken and re-distributed.
